Gosh I love this book so much! I think it might be my “most read” book ever. Been reading it almost yearly since I was a kid. My mom used to read it to me, then my older sibling. This book was a gift from my sibling in 2006 - the year I graduated. Means so much to me.

Aaaand that's a wrap on @24in48 Winter 2018 edition! So many excellent books, and I enjoyed keepin up w/ everyone's #24in48 posts. Hard to pick a favourite reading experience, but "Abel's Island" was an absolute delight. What a hilarious, beautiful little story of love & survival (and Abel's such a creative creature—and a fellow reader ?) I kept stopping to read great lines aloud to my sister! And thanks to my 2 cats for keepin me company. ??

"What's "Abel's Island?" I asked my husband, while scanning our shelves for a spontaneous addition to my @24in48 stack. "Only the best book ever," he replied. So yes, I'm definitely planning to get to this one—especially since I haven't read any children's literature in this readathon yet. #24in48

One of my favorites as a child, I remember checking it out multiple times from the library. A mouse gets marooned on an island & works to get off the island & back to his wife, Amanda. I think part of my fondness for this book was there was a character that shared my name 🤓 #setonanisland #seasonsreading2016
