Finally realized a longtime dream of visiting Patience and Fortitude at NYPL. This historic building lived up to the (incredibly high) expectations I had.

Classes start today but I got one last book in yesterday! Overall, this was well-written and had a lot of interesting information. However, the early part of the book flips back and forth in time which is one of my pet peeves so I personally found that annoying.
I have visited the wonderful Rose Reading Room at the NYPL which could be the only reason I trudged through this dry account of the library‘s latest problems. Loved the title, but that‘s about all of this book. If you are a reader in NYC, this book may interest you.
Happy birthday to me! I took today off work specifically to read all day and was delighted to find out I share the day with Patience and Fortitude, the New York Public Library lions 🦁 🎂 🎉 🎁 🦁
#TBRtemptation post 8! Holy Power To the People, Batman! Check this out!!! The Nation ran a series of cover stories detailing how the NYCPL was in the crosshairs for destruction. Prior to 2008, the library's leaders forged a plan to sell many branch locations, mutilate the iconic Bryant Park building, & send millions of book to storage in NJ. Readers would be lost, & Bloomberg's cronies would win. The people triumphed. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
ok littens, who is going to #brlive this weekend?? I'll be hosting a food books meet up on Saturday and speaking on the library panel on Sunday. Also planning to attend the Litsy meet up! hope to meet some of you lovely people IRL! xo
What a delight it was to find among the august and hallowed halls of the New York Public Library an utterly charming children's reading room with big books, small furniture, brightly colored murals and, yes, Patience and Fortitude made of Lego! 😻This is also the home of the original stuffed animals of Winnie the Pooh, et al, but sadly their display was temporarily closed. And spotted this book in the shop —it looks good! One more for the TBR😺
