Just finished another wonderful book by one of my favorite authors Richard Russo. Heading to the used book store to see if I can pick up another...probably something I have already read but it never hurts to reread a favorite.

Typically I am big Russo fan but this one mostly missed the mark for me. There are moments that hit home with his usual devastating accuracy but overall I found the characters paper thin and hard to care about. Glad I read it but I am also glad this wasn‘t the first of his books I have read.
Another gem from Russo, who intertwines hilarious physical comedy with deeply emotional poignancy better than anyone. Griffin comes to the realization that we all become our parents, for better or for worse, and how the wounds of childhood mar our adult relationships.

A book, an adult beverage and a little Mets Baseball. A good start to the weekend!
I read this book because I have such fond memories of the Cape. My mom grew up there and we spent some really happy summers there. Well this book was terrible. It wasn‘t even really about the Cape. It was just a whiny white guy complaining about his life. It was awful. I wish I hadn‘t bothered to finish it.
Rainy day on the screened porch with Emmylou, Dynamite coffee from North Carolina and one of my favorite writers coming to Atlanta in a few days.

I expected this to be a sappy love story, which it wasn't. It was about a man who finds himself after the passing of his parents. Russo did a great job explaining the characters feelings and thoughts...so much so that I almost felt like I could understand my spouse's point of view a little better.
My 5 year old insisted I needed a better bookmark. He then proceeded to give me this awesome feather. #mcnewreads #booksfromsteinbeck
"The morning breeze billowing the chintz curtains smelled of the sea..." Totally living this book as I read it!
Two flights and two chapters in I'm excited for geography and literary magic to meet!
