I enjoyed this very much. The illustrations were awesome and a great addition to the story. I appreciated seeing characters in a new story. Even having watched the series before reading the book, the novel felt interesting and engaging.
Starting this today, sitting outside in the sun with some lovely iced tea. Can‘t beat it.
Reading this after watching the new Netflix show. Wish me luck cause I really enjoyed the show.
4 stars there's no way my review will fit here my review is on my good read link in my bio
Since this is becoming a Netflix series on July 17th I better get cracking I've had it on my shelves since last year 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
Arthurian Legend centred around a teenaged girl chosen by the sword.
This book reads like a novelized TV script mash-up of Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Throne of Glass. Very very YA.
Not one single character is interesting; they all follow the inevitable YA and epic fantasy tropes. It was a boring read and I eventually bailed at 42%.

The first mini-challenge is to talk about books - erm, that's what we do here and several places else.
What's your favourite Arthurian Legend version?
It was fun adventure and twist on the story that we know so well. I kept going back and forth on liking the MC. Arthur fell flat to me. Merlin was the most interesting since he was very flawed. The first half of the book felt so slow, then around 200pgs it picked up! Towards the end, it was mass chaos with many things happening at once so the pacing was a little off to me. Love the illustrations tho! #bookaweekchallenge #ya #fantasy #bookclub
So good. This story has been told and retold so many times, but this retelling was so interesting and compelling. Nimue, queen of the Fey, wielded of the Sword of Power, is a powerful force and not merely a sidekick to Arthur. I hope there are plans for additional books in a series. I loved it.
This book fell a little flat from what I was expecting. It held my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat for the most part. I just felt like it would be more. Nimue was kick ass and didn‘t play games at all. This is going to be a Netflix series and I am curious about it. This will probably be my last book read of the year. This is my 9th completed book in the #24b42020 readathon.
@TheSpineView you probably already know but I got this in last week. Sorry for my delay in posting. I look forward to reading it.
Let's just say I was underwhelmed. The plot had the potential for a great read. However, the characters fell short. Especially the MC who was I expecting to be a strong female heroine, A Joan of Arc for example. Totally didn't get that! Sigh... 3.5 ⭐

📘 Audiobook will be The Graveyard Book not sure on physical. I am a mood reader.
📘 Children of Blood and Bone.
The characters are hollow, the plot predictable, and the violence puerile; that‘s not to say wielding this book isn‘t a fiercely good time for Arthur fans and teen readers.
