A Match Made for Thanksgiving (Holiday with the Wongs, Book 1)
A Match Made for Thanksgiving (Holiday with the Wongs, Book 1) | Jackie Lau

Advertising executive Nick Wong enjoys living in Toronto. He loves late nights partying and taking women back to his penthouse. And so it is with great reluctance that he returns to his boring hometown of Mosquito Bay for Thanksgiving.
This year, however, is even worse than usual. His interfering parents and grandparents, frustrated with the lack of weddings in the family, have invited blind dates for him and his three siblings. Nick’s brother Greg has been set up with Lily Tseng, who just so happens to be Nick’s latest one-night stand, the one he can’t get out of his mind.
Although Nick has never been interested in settling down, Lily has him reconsidering. Perhaps he’s good for more than a single night of sex, dumplings, and bubble tea after all. But first, he has to get through this painful weekend with his family and convince her that she should be with him, not Greg…

Found a #pantone2022 match for my latest completed kindle read.

@Clwojick This is the last match I needed to find! Thanks for a fun challenge! 🤗

I‘ll be honest, a Thanksgiving setting and an MC who resembles Henry Golding, I am all in! Those two things alone won me over, but this short and sweet read (which started with insta lust) also had heart. A cute holiday read with plenty of spice!

This one didn't quite work for me. Nick is just too perfect, and the attraction between the characters too instant for me to get behind. If you like extremely tropey romance and don't mind those things, you might like this.

I thought I might be bothered by a Thanksgiving story this year when I can't be with my family, but I wasn't, possibly because that part of the plot was over quickly and the families were nothing like mine.

🍂 A Match Made for Thanksgiving - feel good holiday romance ❤️

🍁 I‘m a mood reader, ever make lists. It also depends on which Libby holds come available first!

🧆 Chick‘Fil‘A - wasn‘t on the menu, but it‘s been a long day!

🍃 Friends, Parks and Recreation, Psych, Schitt‘s Creek

MoonWitch94 Schitt‘s Creek is SO GOOD and makes me so happy! Thanks for playing ⭐️🍁 4y

In honor of Canadian Thanksgiving this week, I dug this out of the TBR pile. Cute story about a couple that has a one night stand and then discover their families have set them up on Thankgiving dates, only he's her brother's date.

Reading this way out of season, but I don‘t care! A fun romance with a great meddling family. Could read them bickering for pages and pages. And the romance is good too and no unnecessary misunderstandings.

While I started reading this because it‘s nice and short (and I‘m behind on my GR target) - I had a genuinely lovely time and look forward to seeing how the rest of the Wong siblings have their HEA‘s foisted on them by their well meaning but not great at match making parents 😉

One last Thanksgiving read. After reading that you Bailed @ReadingEnvy I wasn't expecting much. But I did enjoy it. Probably because I just wanted fluffy read after long day of cooking. 🥧🍷👩‍🍳

ReadingEnvy No shame in fluff! 5y

What's your Secret to finding more time to Read?
I confess. I hide that I use Store Bought Pie Dough for my Bourbon Pecan Pie. I put either Pillsbury or dough I buy at Amish Bakery in my pie pan and bury the wrapping in the trash. 🙈🙉🙊

ljuliel My pie secret is to buy frozen ones that taste every bit as good as homemade. 😂. I don‘t hide the boxes. The Hubster doesn‘t mind a bit. The thing that takes the longest is the turkey. Once I get it wrestled into the pan and stuffed , the biggest job is done. Just waiting about another hour to start the rest of the food. Happy Turkey Day 5y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @ljuliel sadly the Amish Bakery in my small town doesn't do Bourbon Pecan. 😏 5y
Tamra Haha! I do not make pie dough either! Nobody seems to care. 👍🏾 5y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @Tamra mine is always awful. I also make Pumpkin Ginger w/ Graham Cracker Crust. No one expects me to make Graham Cracker Crust from scratch. But in my defense I make awesome Sweet Potato Dinner Roles from scratch. 5y

I can't tell you much I wanted to love this book. I was hoping for Crazy Rich Asians does Thanksgiving. But it's so bad! And all the reviews on Amazon and Goodreads are positive! The author writes uncomfortably about people who are clearly Chinese (she refers to people in very generic words like "Asian" while using very specific names for people and foods?) But also she didn't edit this well, restating reveals that had already been revealed...⤵️

ReadingEnvy It's 100 pages but I could not get through it, so much missed potential. 5y
ReadingEnvy And the author seems to do bare minimum to cram in the sex scenes ... And I must admit one was so clunky I had to read it three times to understand how fingers got to a place ... When you need a diagram, it's probably not a good scene. 5y
cathysaid @ReadingEnvy Ok I may have laughed so hard at this comment I woke the humans and animals asleep around me. 5y
