☃️ not really, I follow a few authors and bookish accounts on IG and twitter but that‘s it
☃️100 books, and @ melanatedreader (on twitter) has a challenge #20booksbyblackwomen and I‘m on # 2. I kind of fell off on my diversity goal last year, so making a better effort out of the gate.

Thanks for the tag @DarkMina
Technically, it is a holiday story. The peak of tension on Christmas Eve Eve.
A story of #girlboss, pinkwashed cutthroat corporate culture. 4 friends, the secrets they are keeping for each other and from each other come to a head after one goes missing ahead of a big business announcement. As they try to get through tragedy, more secrets come to light.
Bartz wonderfully uses layers & tension to hook you.

Trying to pick a book I think I can finish before #Wintergames2021 instead of doing anything I‘m supposed to be doing really.
5/5 for this one! I loved this twisty thriller. I went in a bit blind and was pleasantly surprised. I was pulled in from the start and interested the whole time. I definitely recommend this one!
Breathtakingly chilling. Literally finished The Herd in one day; I could not put it down. Secrets. Lies. Half-truths. Twisted together and then pulled apart in this fantastic murder mystery.

I “herd” that this one is good, so going to start it today 😃
I did not love this. I had a hard time figuring out which sister was talking, they sort of melded together. I think the biggest bummer for me was that this was marketed as this mystery set in a female-centric club, which okay, but then with this aggressive patriarchy Antiherd angle, except it‘s not really a big part of the story. And the mentions of diversity and being lgbtq+ friendly seemed a bit like an afterthought. Not my cup of 🍵
To be honest, I‘m just not super invested but 3/4 way through so I will finish. When is it too late to call? Usually if I s as m bailing I try not to read more than about 40-50 pages but here I am, 239 in so I‘ll push through. Maybe the ending will blow my mind 🤷🏼♀️
Lucy approved of this book by aggressively rubbing her face against it, so that‘s good enough for me! Bookish Bingo has been a great motivator this month even though it has been more library books and less tbr. Already planning next months! Now back to this cat approved book 🐈⬛
Enjoyed this off the beaten path psychological thriller. At the heart are two sisters and their friends, one of whom is the head of a start up empire. #audiobook
I was surprised by how much I ended up loving this book! I'm picky with psychological thrillers and have not liked most of the ones I have read. This was my first time reading a feminist psychological thriller. I enjoyed that there were 4 main female characters and not one fit the cliche of a drunk, unreliable character. I loved the 2 distinct perspectives. I have never read any other book like this. It would make a great movie or show!
Maybe too millennial for my taste. Didn't pull me in.. Too much social media and the like. I didn't love it and I didn't find it easy to finish. It was just okay.
The Herd is a feminist, female-only coworking space in Brooklyn, highly prized by successful working women and pilloried by some men. Suddenly, a woman from The Herd disappears. This is an enjoyable mystery with good twists and one very good fake out. I thoroughly enjoyed it and read it in two sittings. Lots of fun.
This book was a struggle to get through. None of these characters were likable, the plot extremely unorganized and unrealistic. I forced myself to finish in the hopes that it would somehow lead to a good ending but it fell flat. 😫
I would recommend this as a satisfying (good but not great) thriller. It had an interesting premise with the company and then murder. It switches between two POV, but this is written well. I did figure out the twist, so it was a bit predictable to me.
It took me way too long to read this.
I‘m not sure what I was expecting, but what I got was a bunch of unlikeable characters and a promising, but ultimately plodding, mystery. The Herd itself put me in mind of goop, and that‘s not really a great thing for me. 😆
In the end, it just wasn‘t believable or entertaining.
Note to self: don‘t request contemporary thrillers from NetGalley when you generally don‘t like contemporary thrillers.😂
