River of No Return
River of No Return | Bee Ridgway
Named a Notable Fiction Book of 2013 by "The Washington Post" An engrossing adventure, with mystery, romance, humor, and impeccable historical detail. "The Boston Globe" Devon, 1815. The charming Lord Nicholas Davenant and the beguiling Julia Percy should make a perfect match. But before their love has a chance to grow, Nicholas is presumed dead in the Napoleonic war.Nick, however, is lost in time. Somehow he escaped certain death by leaping two hundred years forward to the present day where he finds himself in the care of a mysterious society the Guild. Questioning the limits of the impossible, Nick is desperate to find a way back to the life he left behind. Yet with the future of time itself hanging in the balance, could it be that the girl who first captured his heart has had the answers all along? Can Nick find a way to return to her?"

This time of year I always take a few days to scour our local library book sale but I just didn't have the time this year to go. Today was the last day and I made the time 😊

Selection was incredibly limited, which was disappointing, but I did manage to fill a bag for $5.

Now to find the space....😨

Good time travelling novel. But an ending that had me turning the pages to find the real last chapter! 🤷‍♀️
One of those books that seem to have been on my tbr forever!

SilversReviews LOVE the cover. 4y
LeahBergen It looks like there is a prequel to this? 4y
TrishB @SilversReviews it is lovely ❤️ 4y
TrishB @LeahBergen thank you 👍🏻 but that it seems to be available! It definitely needs a sequel though. 4y

#TheRiver
A Regency-era man is presumed dead in the Napoleonic war but has actually time-travelled 200 years into the future. Hmm... this might be a fun read. Has anyone read it?

alisonrose I haven't but I've seen it on many Booktubers' shelves in the background of their videos - so it's popular, at least 😁 8y

Time travel! Romance! Suspense! I really enjoyed this very unusual and fascinating story. I hear there is a prequel, but I am now in the club of those who want a sequel!

Throwback to lunch last week. Shortly thereafter I finished this wonderful adventure of a non-traditional romance. Time travel, two warring factions, the tensions involved, the conflict, the breathless anticipation, and the ending. I can't say much more, because I do not want to give it away. I am glad I tried it. #Romantsy #timetravel 😊💙

EloisaJames I love this book too! I'm finally reading A Discovery of Witches--not dissimilar. 8y

Don't let the insane amount of time it took me to read this deter you -- I've been in a slump. This is a delicious read -- one cover blurb called it "...the love child of Jane Austen and Doctor Who", and I can't think of a more perfect description. In turns sharp, mysterious, beguiling, and nostalgic, and like life, with no clear conclusion -- but all the better for it.
