If anyone else struggles to find #letterZ books for #LitsyAtoZ, here‘s one on sale. Btw, is anyone else still doing this challenge?

I went through a phase of reading tons of Paulo Coelho because I didn‘t know what else to take out from the library and I wanted to recapture the magic of The Alchemist. The Zahir did that for me.

The rest of the books were so-so because they felt like repetitions of the same theme but I loved this one. It‘s about a man on a journey to find his wife who disappears without a note or a trace.

LeeRHarry I haven‘t liked any books of his that I‘ve read since The Alchemist- which I adored - but I‘ll put this one on my TBR 😊 2y

'Esther asked why people are sad. "That's simple," said the old man. "They are the prisoners of their personal history. Everyone believes that the main aim in life is to follow a plan. They never ask if the plan is theirs or if it was created by another person. They accumulate experiences, memories, things, other people's ideas, and it is more than they can cope with. And that is why they forget their dreams".'

The Zahir | Paulo Coelho

I have just started reading paulo Coelho's book, The Zahir. After reading the first few pages, I got very much interest in it and willing to read the whole book within a week. I would recommend this book of love, loss and obsession to u all.

RaimeyGallant Sounds interesting. And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. 7y

Paulo Coelho writes very simply and realistically, though at some points it was a bit difficult to understand who was talking to who, because the names weren't mentioned.

The premise is meaningful but it took six months to complete the book. I recognize the author is world renowned but the journey to finish this book felt as long as the journey the protagonist took to find The Zahir. Nonetheless, #litsyatoz reading challenge is what encouraged me to persist.

Swati Took me about 10 years. I would start the book, read halfway, then drop it. Kept repeating it. Finally began again, and read the thing in a week. What I understood was, just like the book, if you're not ready for 'The Zahir', it will not be visible to you. I never could get through earlier because I never understood what it was trying to say to me. When I did understand, I reached the end. 6y

What a profound statement on love. Although I've not really ever experienced love, I can see how this could be so true. #zahir #love #quotes #pablocoelho

Of self discovery, extra marital affairs and disappearing wife. Finally I concluded that Paulo's prose is not my cuppa tea 😓

Definitely the worst Coelho book I've read

Swati It's not. If you didn't get it, or couldn't finish it, or were frustrated by it - you simply weren't ready for it. Took me ten years of reading and re-reading to finally close the last page - it was worth it. I put it in the category as Eleven Minutes, Alchemist, and By The River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept. 6y
