Nicholas Flamel appeared in J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter but did you know he really lived? And he might still be alive today!" "Discover the truth in Michael Scott s "New York Times" bestselling series the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel in "The Magician," book two. After fleeing Ojai, Nicholas, Sophie, Josh, and Scatty emerge in Paris, the City of Lights. Home for Nicholas Flamel. Only this homecoming is anything but sweet. Perenell is still locked up back in Alcatraz and Paris is teeming with enemies. Nicollo Machiavelli, immortal author and celebrated art collector, is working for Dee. He s after them, and time is running out for Nicholas and Perenell. For every day spent without the Book of Abraham the Mage, they age one year their magic becoming weaker and their bodies more frail. For Flamel, the Prophesy is becoming more and more clear. It s time for Sophie to learn the second elemental magic: Fire Magic. And there s only one man who can teach it to her: Flamel s old student, the Comte de Saint-Germain alchemist, magician, and rock star. Josh and Sophie Newman are the world s only hope if they don t turn on each other first. Readers will be swept up by a plot that moves smartly along, leaving a wide trail of destruction and well-timed revelations. "Kirkus Reveiws," Starred Read the whole series! Well, I'm still not going nuts for the series but this was a bit step up from the first book for me. There was much more plot & character development going on here, which was very welcome, and the world-building/background/history that did come up was in much smaller doses, which was also very welcome. I'm intrigued by the story enough to see where it goes and amused by all the "historical figures" that pop up in the series.

I'm a big fan of Jeanne d'Arc! I'm also a big fan of all the magic and mythology. Josh is a bit whining all the time, but after this ending, it might change. For now I chose to trust Flamel and see him as the good guy, although some of this actions are questionable. Overall, I'm excited to see where the story will take us next!

Book2 in this series. Josh and his twin Sophie have both had their magic awakened and in this book Joan of Arc makes an appearance. Great series, I‘m going to keep on reading.

A nice easy read to start the new year, though some aspects of the story were a little bit frustrating.

I must say that I am really enjoying the development of this series. The twins are learning very important lessons, there is many layers to the main secondary characters, and the additional characters that get introduced are also fascinating. It is also neat to encounter historically accurate characters and how they relate to the story. Lastly, even though it is centered on magic, the plot is surprisingly believable. #recentlyread #nospoilers #YA

Texreader I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series! 5y

✨ HI EVERYONE✨

I‘m sorry I‘ve been so inactive, A Levels took over my life! But I‘m back:)

I really enjoyed these two books as easy reads when you‘re just not in the mood for serious reads (anyone else get those moods?)

When I‘m finally not broke I will buy the rest of these books 📚

Better than the first. I'm having a hard time getting into this series. I'm thinking I'll try again in a few months and see if it clicks better

I'm picking up so many extra little details I missed the first time around, that make me love this book (and this series) even more.

I can't wait to continue this series. The stories don't really end, they just sort of pause while you grab the next book. I highly recommend having the next book on hand when you finish each book. You're going to want to keep going. #michaelscott #themagician #secretsoftheimmortalnicholasflamel

The #Heroes in the Nicholas Flamel series are a pair of #Siblings. I remember waiting until the first 4 books were published before I bought the first three and got 4 and 5 for my 30th birthday. The weeks after my b-day I was #BingeReading these books. Fortunately my daughter was only a few weeks old and still needed lots of sleep. 😉

I enjoyed this book more than the first book in this series. However, there is much that could be improved... I am looking forward to seeing where the next book leads the characters.

Here's the thing. I like this series of books. They are fun exercises in creativity, using mythology to weave a fantastical story. But I don't find them particularly well written. Fun to skim in summer, but don't expect literature.

Sequel to 'The Alchemyst', this book has just as wonderful use of mythology, with impeccable research. An exciting, and thrilling story, that teaches it's reader along the way. A wonderful read.
