The Midwife Murders
The Midwife Murders | James Patterson, Richard DiLallo
A missing patient is a hospital ward's worst nightmare -- until even more disappear. To Senior Midwife Lucy Ryuan, pregnancy is not an unusual condition, it's her life's work. But when two kidnappings and a vicious stabbing happen on her watch in a university hospital in Manhattan, her focus abruptly changes. Something has to be done, and Lucy is fearless enough to try. Rumors begin to swirl, blaming everyone from the Russian Mafia to an underground adoption network. The feisty single mom teams up with a skeptical NYPD detective to solve the case, but the truth is far more twisted than Lucy could ever have imagined.

Great story, and the pace is perfect. I did find that I'd sussed the main "bad guy" within their first few appearances. My main gripe was the main character, Lucy, as she was one of the most unlikeable characters I've ever come across... Who leaves their young child alone so often?! I wish more police would just tell Lucy to shut up, stop arguing with the police and to stay in her lane. She was awful.
This would be a decent palette cleanser.

It was a fun book. The female lead was completely implausible and she seemed to define every male character she met by whether she fancied them or not. There was a weird section focused on her family which didn't fit in with the rest of the story and felt like a non-sequitur. Overall, though, it was well paced and fun to read, a basic whodunnit with the heart-wrenching context of kidnapping babies. An easy read, not life-changing!

Very poor. Lucy was a hugely unlikeable character and her attitude towards pretty much everyone was just intolerable. So many parts of this book made little to no sense. Can anybody answer a question for me please? When Patterson writes a book with another author does he actually have anything to do with the finished product? He seems to do this a lot so I‘m just wondering!

The plot was good, I enjoyed the mystery and suspense to finding out who what and why but the main character really put me off. She was an arrogant b#$ch to put it politely. Maybe if she was made to be more likeable I'd have enjoyed it more.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another enjoyable book by James Patterson!! GUH hospital has a big problem. Babies are disappearing and Mom‘s are being attacked. Lucy is a midwife at GUH who wants to put a stop to all that is going on.

Book #4 completed for #Screamathon and Scarathlon. Rarely do I dislike James Patterson‘s main characters ... this was the exception. Pretty much from the jump I wanted to slap Lucy. I powered thru reading this book only for #TeamSlaughter (yes... YOU people!). Ugh.

Book #3 for #Screamathon2020. Hoping for a snail‘s pace at work tonight. I really hate when work gets in the way of #Scarathlon2020 month. #soannoying #priorities #saveuourcrisiforNovember #readallnight #securitycamerasstillbroke

Clwojick 😂😂 I know the feeling! I have already turned down four extra shifts in October. I‘ll make extra money in November. 😂 4y

While the ending was a surprise, I didn‘t really care by the time I got there. Definitely not my favorite 🙁
