Gotham by Gaslight
Gotham by Gaslight | Mike Mignola, Brian Augustyn
6 posts | 8 read | 4 to read
What would the Gotham City of one hundred years ago have been like?. In an age of mystery and superstition, how would the people of Gotham react to a weird creature of the night, a bat-garbed vigilante feared by the guilty and the innocent alike?. Some would live in terror. Others would rest easier. Only one man would take no notice at all, a man with other matters to attend to. His name?. No one knows for sure. Most people know him only as Jack. Jack the Ripper. Batman, Gotham by gaslight collects the classic tale of the Victorian era Bat-Man's encounter with the Butcher of Whitechapel alongside its acclaimed sequel, Master of the future, in which the Dark Knight encounters a crazed prophet determined to prevent Gotham City from entering the twentieth century.

Made the voyage to my local (hour away) comic books store to pick up a couple months worth of comics. #comicbookhaul

Weirdly I consider myself much more of a DC fan but all the ongoing comics I get are Marvel books. That‘s because I get my DC books in trade paperback for so they can all look pretty on a shelf together.

GarthRanzz Love Gotham By Gaslight. I needed to have added the animated version to my list today. Maybe I still can. 😊 And I‘m with you. I am DC all the way but seem to pull more Marvel weekly. Except I‘m thinking I‘m done with dipping my toes back into the X-verse. Just doesn‘t have the same appeal it did 20 years ago. 5y
vivastory Today I read (& loved) vol 1 of Vaughan's Ex Machina 5y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Oh @vivastory you are in for a ride. Without giving anything away, the ending of that series is a level above brilliant. 5y

TobeyTheScavengerMonk @GarthRanzz I have a ton of Elseworld books, so it made sense to get the one that started it all. I really loved what Bendis did with the X-kids in All New so I‘ve followed the to Blue but it isn‘t quite the same. 5y
vivastory I think it's brilliant so far. Honestly it's my favorite Vaughan after Saga. On a different note, I also finished Lynch's Lies of Locke Lamora today. I haven't read very many Fantasy books, but it's one of my favorites. I adored it so much. And he is so young. Only 39! 5y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @vivastory Lies is one razor sharp book! Truly glad you enjoyed it and you‘ve got more adventures with Locke and Jean to look forward to. Hopefully we will see book 4 this year! 5y
GarthRanzz Love the Elseworld imprint. Red Rain is still one of the best reads ever. I had really hoped to rekindle my X-Men romance with all the latest titles but Astonishing is the only one that has come close to being worth the time for me. 5y

To historier. Den ene tegnet af Mignola (og det er fedt), men begge fortællinger er mere fjollede end de behøver. Suk.
