A beautiful look at trauma and recovery. I loved the characters and mcLemore‘s style. This book really handles trauma well and vividly illustrates what it‘s like. I also love food magic! It was great having an m-spec protagonist as well. Strong content warnings for rape, bullying, harassment, homophobia, and panic attacks. #LGBTQ #Trauma #PTSD #FoodMagic

Trigger warning for sexual assault! This was a REALLY good book, a retelling of the Snow Queen. But, it was also so so so difficult. McLemore‘s writing is a lot flowery sometimes, but it wasn‘t quite so over the top as it is in some of their books. #OwnVoices

LeahBergen Look at those pretty kitty eyes. 💙 2y
bookwrm526 @LeahBergen thanks :) we just moved, and I took that on his first day in the new house. Needless to say he was being a bit high strung lol 2y

Oof, this was a gut punch. Every time Ciela revealed a little more of what actually happened at that party, I wanted to scream. Love that she and Lock slowly began reclaiming themselves, though. #yalit

This book was intense for YA, with the heavy subject of coming to terms with a sexual assault. I thought the author handled it delicately. There are some interesting magical realism aspects to the story, and the MC is pansexual, which was nice to see.

This was for #LMPBC and was this month‘s #doublespin.

GondorGirl I haven't read this one yet, but I'm a fan of AMmL's other work. I'll have to add this one to my list! 3y

It‘s not easy choosing a favorite mug, since like most tea enthusiasts I have a really large collection. I do love this one, recently purchased from a local pottery maker. It‘s currently empty because I‘m about to leave for work, so my tea is in a to go mug this morning.

If you haven‘t seen Suzanne‘s giveaway yet, follow the hashtag! She‘s giving away some cute owl mugs and a TBR book! 📚☕️❤️

BennettBookworm Thank you for entering!! I love this mug! This year I‘ve started my own journey in pottery and I‘ve made mostly mugs so far, so I totally relate to the big collection ☺️☕️ 3y
Soubhiville @BennettBookworm thanks for holding a giveaway 😊. I took a pottery class a couple of months ago and made a few small bowls. It wasn‘t easy! I should have them back in a couple weeks from the firing/glazing process and I‘ll probably post photos. I admire well made mugs even more now that I‘ve tried the process! 3y
RaeLovesToRead Awesome mug! I love the big handle for maximum snuggle-age! 3y
BennettBookworm That is soooo true! Yes I feel like I appreciate the process so much more now- it takes a lot of muscle! I also experience so much anticipation when I‘m waiting for things to be go through the final firing and glazing, like I just want it NOW! Haha 3y

I flew through this book in about a week (which hasn't happened in a long time). Utterly beautiful, heart-breaking, and magical. Anna-Marie McLemore is an astounding author, and her craft in using magical realism in fairytale-like settings and stories. Also, I loved the representation of the pansexual Latinx character #lgbtq #lmpbc #latinx #fairytales #groupp #round12 @WanderingBookaneer @Soubhiville @bibliobard

Sending my marked up book out today! I started this late in the month, but zoomed through it. I'll let you know when I've had it offically sent out. I'll keep watch on its tracking status too. @Soubhiville @WanderingBookaneer @bibliobard @suvata #LMPBC #GroupP

phantomx @Soubhiville Sent out my package an 1 hour ago. It should arrive by August 5 (I forgot to draw legend key in the journal to explain the symbols I used to markup the book 😅) 3y
Soubhiville It arrived Monday. I hope to start it tomorrow. Thanks! 3y
Soubhiville If you want to email me your symbol guide I can add it to the journal if you‘d like 🙂. 3y

Got my books for #GroupP and #GroupU for the #LMPBC a week, and I was running around looking for the right pen to write with to markup the books (looking through my markers and highlighters for the perfect color to markup quotes.) I'm super excited to read these! @Soubhiville @WanderingBookaneer @bibliobard @SamAnne @TheBookKeepers

TheBookKeepers Yay!! 🤩 3y

I have Aristotle and Dante Discover Secrets of the Universe, and have been wanting read it for a very long time, these are my other picks too. Chulito is giving me On My Block vibes, so torn on these picks #GroupP #LMPBC @WanderingBookaneer @Soubhiville @bibliobard

bibliobard I have always meant to read Aristotle & Dante 🤩 I also almost listed the Mirror Season in my choices too — though I don‘t think it comes out until the end of June (could be wrong) 3y
WanderingBookaneer I‘ve read Aristotle and Dante and Juliet Takes a Breath. I‘m okay with any of the others. They are all in my TBR. (edited) 3y
Soubhiville I also have read Aristotle and Juliet, but none of the others. I‘d be happy with whatever you choose. 3y

phantomx @Soubhiville @WanderingBookaneer @bibliobard I've decided! I'll go with The Mirror Season, it came out a few months ago and the book cover is quite striking 3y
WanderingBookaneer I love that author, so I‘m excited! 3y
phantomx @WanderingBookaneer I read Wild Beauty and loved it, so I wanted to go back to some magical realism and try another one of their books 3y

There‘s a lot to like about The Mirror Season. It‘s beautifully written, tackles a lot of topics (sexuality, assault, family, friendships, bullying) and they‘re done well.

Only thing I didn‘t like/understand was the mirror glass. I just didn‘t get the point in the story. Hopefully book club peeps will help me out here.

I‘m loving my new outside seat so much! Love sitting outside and reading.

Enjoying The Mirror Season so far. It‘s not the happiest of books (due to content) but beautiful written.

LazyOwl Lovely spot you've got there, very picturesque 3y

My parents had everything all booked for a trip to see the hot air balloons in 2020, but the rona ruined that and their 45th wedding anniversary cruise this summer. #AnyWayYouReadathon @eggbeater @midnightbookgirl
