I can't believe I forgot how good Kepler's books are!!! It was so nice to read an actual, bona-fide, thriller for a change This is part of a series that also works as stand-alones, but I would definitely recommend reading his other ones, too. Every single character is well-written and dimensional, the plot was well executed, and a LOT happens in this book, making it really hard to put down, yet it surprisingly easy to follow.

Happy Saturday! It‘s a rainy morning here. My husband is irritated about it because he has things to do outside; I‘m happy about it because it‘s the perfect reading weather.

Just realizing I never posted my review of this. This book was incredible. The most notorious criminal from Joona's past is back with a vengeance 👀
Lots of twists and turns and action that you expect from this series, and the end was 😳🤯.
Put this series on your list! 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I ventured to my favorite book store, Murder by the Book, and picked up this beauty. So glad they‘re finally allowing customers to browse. #shoplocal #supportindiebookstores

Jurek Walter is thought to be back. Saga & Joona thought that he died when Saga shot him 3 times but the most vicious killer has returned & has captured Saga‘s father and sister and buried them alive. It is the 7th installment is the series by Lars Kepler and the best so far. All these books are very dark and violent but keep you on the edge until the very end. This one has a surprise ending and a cliffhanger and is no different than the others.

Andrew65 I enjoyed this one too. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 I guess there will be another as we need to find out about The Beaver. 4y

EadieB I think he is the best vicious person I have met in a book although some of Chris Carter‘s vicious characters are pretty nasty too in his Robert Hunter series. 4y
Tove_Reads @EadieB I agree! Jurek is one of the greatest antagonists, and I think I‘ll always remember him. 4y

Jurek was back but actually he didn‘t figure that much in the book, but it was all about him and his revenge on Saga and Joona. Quite dark in places and very gritty at points. The psychological impact Jurek has resonates through the book and builds to a tense and exciting ending. Events at the end of the book are quite shocking 😢and like usual the book ends on a couple of cliffhangers. Overall enjoyable but very long again. #NordicNoir

EadieB @Andrew65 Nice review! I'm looking forward to reading it even though it's so long. I guess we have to live with the fact that the books are going to be long. We keep complaining but they are not listening! 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB 😂 No they‘re not. Presumably got a year‘s break from this series now. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB Although just checking release dates of previous books likely to be at least a couple of years before the next one. 4y

Andrew65 @EadieB @Tove_Reads Yey! Finished this series and actually ahead of schedule. Now to target Camilla Lackberg series where just about to start book 5. Looks very long! 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 I think the Lackberg books are long but they seem easier to read to me. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB I agree! 4y
Tove_Reads What makes the Läckbergs long is that E is at home complaining how hard life is when kids are young. Yes, we get it, but we don‘t need to read about it in crime novels! 4y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads 🤣 Or need it to keep taking up space. 4y
gradcat @Andrew65 You‘ve written a great review, but I still hate these books...not my cup of tea...😂♥️ 4y
Andrew65 @gradcat This hits both triggers for me, I like them but I don‘t like them at the same time. 🤷‍♂️ (edited) 4y

Almost caught up with one of the #NordicNoir Series, and am now reading Lazarus. Tomorrow will be starting book 5 in the Camilla Lackberg Series or book 3 in the Jussi Adler-Olsen Series, not sure which series to target next.

EadieB @Andrew65 I would need to read this closer to the Sunday that @Tove_Reads asks the questions as I wouldn't probably remember everything. I think you should target the Lackberg series next. (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB That‘s a good plan and think it will be the Lackberg series next. Thanks for the suggestion. 😊 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 You're welcome! The Scarred Woman questions will be this Sunday 5th of July, The Lost Boy by Lackberg will be 12th of July and Lazarus will be 19th of July. 4y

Had to finish it tonight. Supposed to go to bed, but I‘m too freaked out to sleep. OMG! I‘m happy I read this series, but relieved it‘s over (for now at least). Have to say Jurek is one of the worst villains that has ever existed in fiction. #NordicNoir

Andrew65 Hoping to get to this one later this week, just over halfway through the previous book. 4y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 👍🏽 I‘m happy to have a few cozy mysteries waiting for me, because I need to have a nice atmosphere next. This one went through my body and soul. Would not have liked to read it on a dark and rainy night... Brutal! Gory! Grim! Gritty! Dark! 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Jurek is back! 4y

#Lazarus #LarsKepler #7

I just received our read for July #NordicNoir this book 7 from #NetGalley. They must be looking for readers as there was no waiting for authorization. It was marked “Ready to Read.” It downloaded automatically to my kindle. It‘s not published until December 1, 2020.

Tove_Reads I saw it there too, but since I read in the original language I didn‘t download it. I think it was published in March in the UK. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads The hardcover was published in US in March too but I think this is the paperback that's coming out in December. My library doesn't have a copy so I would have had to wait as it is so expensive now. (edited) 5y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Really good deal, since you‘ll review it anyway! I plan on reading it this coming week 5y

Andrew65 In the U.K. it was published in March with the paperback due out next year. I really need to look into Net Galley. @Tove_Reads 5y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 I just got my first three books from there! 😍 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes you should join except I find if I sign up for too many then it puts pressure on me to finish them on time especially with all the books we read together. Also what are our next group reads on LibraryThing as I am working on my schedule for July. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB That‘s what I need to ask people about as difficult for some to get hold of books due to lockdown. Just joined a two month free trial of Scribd so will look to see what I can access on this. Will post over next 24 hours. Thanks for the information on NetGalley, will do sone exploring when get to summer break. 3 weeks to go and need it as worked everyday for over 4 months now and had to hold people‘s community & everyone together. (edited) 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads What books are you reading? I'm reading Ann Cleeves The Darkest Evening, Ruth Ware One by One and Rachel Joyce Miss Benson's Beetle and now Lazarus. 5y
Tove_Reads @EadieB On NetGalley or otherwise? I finished all three on NG, and the ones I want are not taking requests, so catching up on many series atm. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Yes, I meant on NetGalley. You finish the 3 NetGalley books already? Wow! That was fast. 5y
Tove_Reads Yeah, they were all just so great that I read them immediately! Not allowed to review one of them yet. Still trying to figure out how it works, but getting a hang of it, I guess. I hope I could get the Follett prequel. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 I think most libraries are open for curbside delivery in the US. Yes look into NetGalley on your well-needed holiday. Your working too hard these days! 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I signed for Follett prequel too but haven't heard yet. We should get approved as we read most of his books. Have you reviewed them on Goodreads as they may check there to see how many you have read? I feel I get approved a lot of times if I read a lot of the author's books. 5y
Tove_Reads “The publisher May grant wishes at any time, so check your dashboard” actually mean? Have they already picked reviewers and they might choose some more, are they checking how many are interested or what‘s the deal? 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads You will get a email if you are approved. (edited) 5y
Tove_Reads But, first it says request now and then it says what I wrote above. Just wondering how it‘s working 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Mine says “Your request is pending“ as I signed up awhile ago. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Most definitely, saw a recent survey saying 25% of Headteachers / Principals thinking of quitting! Ridiculous demands through this crisis. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 That's not good! Some talk about the kids having to wear masks in the hallways and on the buses but not in classrooms but schools in other areas are saying something different. My daughter is concerned about her autistic 12 year old daughter as she will not wear a mask so I think my daughter is going to homeschool her when they move in with us sometime in July. 5y
amywithbooks Oh i am jealous! Looking forward to this one!! 5y
EadieB @avgeyer Try to join NetGalley.com 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Masks not widely used in U.K. Needed now on transport, in hospitals and enclosed spaces where can‘t maintain social distancing. Children and staff told not needed in schools 🤷‍♂️ We have provided for staff and also got hold of visor for each member of staff. Voluntary for staff if want to wear them, and optional for children depending on parental preferences. Year 6 back last week only had 8/48 turn in Y1 next week expecting 12/50. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Masks and full PPE worm when treating first aid or where deliberately going within two metres. Limited it to 8 per class and desks two metres apart. Difficult for autistic children, at moment our children with autism not attending but it depends on the child. Home schooling whilst it settles down in my opinion a good idea and review the situation in 6 months. Very much depends what happens. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Wow! Very low percentage returning. I guess they are waiting for September. Homeschool for awhile but I think autistic children need to be social. She was going to stay with her dad in Virginia as she now has lots of friends where she is going in Virginia but as soon as my daughter saw that they were requiring masks, my daughter said that she is coming to Pennsylvania with her. Her ex-husband was not too happy with the change of plans 5y
Crazeedi @EadieB I have Mrs Bensons beetle and one by one on kindle. I'm going to download this book from net galley. @Andrew65 I have gotten some great books from Net Galley and Edelweiss 4y
Tove_Reads I‘m now 60% done with this book. Enjoying it! 4y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Check out the Finnish author Max Seeck. Has one book on NG, pub date in November 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads It does look good. I requested and I also requested Lisa Jewell's new book, 4y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Haven‘t read that one myself, need to get it from the library. Has another one of his on the nightstand. It‘s from the series that is mostly set in Croatia. 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads What series is set in Croatia? 4y
Tove_Reads @eadieb His series, but the books haven‘t been translated 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I found it on goodreads (Daniel Kuisma #1) but l don't think they are translated yet. 4y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Nope. I think the one on NG is the first that‘s been translated. 4y
Tove_Reads @EadieB says that the book is not currently available to request for Lisa Jewell 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Looks like a US version. Try your library for that one as the first edition is coming out on August 6 2020. 4y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi @EadieB @Tove_Reads I‘ve now joined up. 4y
Tove_Reads @Andrew65 Awesome! I‘ve enjoyed it this far! 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 Good news! 4y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 that's terrific, let me say you are going to be overwhelmed with ARCs you want to read!! 4y

Although I kept turning pages at a rapid speed, it was way too violent for me. I don‘t think I‘ll continue this series.
