I stalk my #BOTM box until it arrives. My pick was The Family Upstairs and I added Ninth House because 👏🏻it‘s👏🏻all👏🏻over👏🏻social👏🏻media! But it does sound pretty good. I‘ve been craving a vampire novel, as well as some NOLA, so hopefully The Beautiful will satisfy.

BlameJennyJane Ah, I didn‘t give The Beautiful any consideration and I‘m kicking myself. I LOVE all things NOLA! 5d
Tera0707 @BlameJennyJane I felt the same way last month! So I waited until this month‘s selections to add it on (sure, I could‘ve bought it somewhere else but I can‘t pass up $9.99 for a hardcover lol). I love anything NOLA too. Hoping to make it back there soon 5d
BlameJennyJane @Tera0707 great plan! And thankfully we can read about NOLA in the meantime between trips! 🤩 5d

Such a cliche, but this really has Gone Girl vibes...at least in the beginning. I thought it was going one way, but then it went another. Then another twist, and another. I do have some questions about things in the story that, I don‘t know, didn‘t make sense because maybe I missed something. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I really did enjoy this one. (First book I‘ve read from this author)

My husband and I had a little staycation in mid-town Houston for our anniversary, and he took me to one of my favorite indie bookstores, Murder by the Book. My husband‘s not a reader (boo) but I love that he browses the books and picks out one for me (yay! It‘s a little tradition we have where he surprises me with what he chooses). —I‘ll post my/our picks later— 😁

I started walking recently (taking a PE class at the college has really motivated me) and it was kind of...boring? So I figured I would try audiobooks again, and it definitely helped today (first day audio-walking). I didn‘t go as far as I wanted, but I could tell my dog was getting tired and thirsty so we headed home. #audiowalking #audiowalk (so glad I discovered Libby! That‘s what I‘m going to use for audiobooks)

LoverOfLearning Is Libby free? 19h
Tera0707 @LoverOfLearning it is. Mine is connected to my local library. I‘m not sure if all libraries use it, however, so you may have to look that up. I‘m so glad I found it though. It sounded so interesting, but I was so bored. I ended up skimming most of it. Towards the end it seems like the author‘s writing got lazy (clipped sentences basically saying the same thing as the previous sentence). Maybe it‘s meant to add some intensity, but it was just annoying. The only reason I‘m giving it a So-so is because the concept of the story was attention-grabbing [to me]. I was so looking forward to this too.

Penny and the Duke of Ruin had me smiling to myself the entire time I was reading. No, really, do you ever watch a movie or show, or while reading, and you become aware that you have a grin on your face? And then you try to stop... only to start doing it again. Maybe it‘s just me... but anyways, this book had me doing that. It was so cute, so light, and Tessa Dare always makes me smile with her humor. Loved this one!

I recently made a Bookstagram account, and I‘m not trying to knock it, but gosh, it seems like so much more pressure than Litsy! Maybe I take things too personally but it‘s like if you post a not-so-good pic, bye bye followers. Litsy is much more accepting; its easier to see reviews; and I think I‘m going to try harder to be more involved with Litsy, as opposed to the Bookstagram community. You guys rock! (Feeling super sensitive today 😔)

Andrew65 That sounds awful! Yes got to love the community feel and the positive upbeat feel of the Litsy environment. 😊🥳 3mo
Megabooks I like looking at other people‘s bookstagrams, but I agree that it‘s too much pressure. You‘re always welcome here!! 3mo
britt_brooke I had a Bookstagram account for a few months and it‘s just way too much of a popularity contest; more about what you can give people or talking to the camera in “stories” than actual reviews. And the algorithms are obnoxious. Deleting my account was liberating! 😆 Litsy is my place. Littens are my people. 💚 3mo

Mowen036 @britt_brooke I feel the same! Too much of a popularity contest and they can be rather clickish too. 3mo

Tera0707 @Megabooks thank you! I definitely feel more welcome here! Just like @britt_brooke and @Mowen036 said, it‘s a popularity contest and so clique-ish. britt_brooke @Tera0707 I like the “real” photos on Litsy, too. So many on Bookstagram are staged or themed, and while some are lovely, many feel pretentious. 3mo
