The Cipher
The Cipher | Isabella Maldonado
To a cunning serial killer, she was the one that got away. Until now... FBI Special Agent Nina Guerrera escaped a serial killer's trap at sixteen. Years later, when she's jumped in a Virginia park, a video of the attack goes viral. Legions of new fans are not the only ones impressed with her fighting skills. The man who abducted her eleven years ago is watching. Determined to reclaim his lost prize, he commits a grisly murder designed to pull her into the investigation...but his games are just beginning. And he's using the internet to invite the public to play along. His coded riddles may have made him a depraved social media superstar--an enigmatic cyber-ghost dubbed "the Cipher"--but to Nina he's a monster who preys on the vulnerable. Partnered with the FBI's preeminent mind hunter, Dr. Jeffrey Wade, who is haunted by his own past, Nina tracks the predator across the country. Clue by clue, victim by victim, Nina races to stop a deadly killer while the world watches.

Mehso-so

My #doublespin book done. This was an okayish read for me. The story at times felt a little vague and not that much different from any other thriller or murder mystery. The technological points were highlighted but the protagonist always went for the laptop to search for every little thing. Bee had a very diminishing role up against the IQ she is presented with, which leaves more to be desired. Maybe she plays a bigger role in the sequel.

ishan0986 The detective is portrayed as strong-willed and full of resilience which is very nice to see, and the quick thinking which she posses is really awesome.
The profilers had very little to add throughout the entire plot and fail to see through the easy stuff especially towards the end of the narrative.

ishan0986 The antagonist is true evil personified. The horrific abuse he went through in his childhood makes him a monster who kills innocent girls and has a special contempt towards the detective. The ending sucked big time. Could be seen miles before the last section began. I don't think I would continue the series.

My first read for April was a very good one. FBI Special Agent Nina Guerrera escaped a serial killer at 16. Can she escape him again? She is now partnered with Dr. Jeffrey Wade, FBI‘s preeminent mind hunter, who is haunted by his own past. I enjoyed this book because the author was an FBI agent herself and the experiences in the book felt very real. Looking forward to book 2.

This book was so good! FBI Special Agent Nina Guerrera was abducted and tortured as a teen. Now a killer is targeting young girls and leaving clues that tie the murders back to Nina. She was the one who got away, and he‘s going to change that. The author was an FBI agent herself, and I think that lends an expertise to the details. If you like police procedurals and serial killer thrillers, this book is for you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

#bookspin for February

I love seeing local references when I‘m reading! Towson (with the TOW pronounced like the word ‘ow‘, not ‘toe‘) is about 30 minutes from where I live. It‘s where I went to college - Towson University (was Towson State University when I went there) - and where my oldest son now attends. Go Tigers! 🐯

I am trying to finish this book today. It is so good! ❤️📚

Work day is done. Wrote some #LitsyLove. Hubby is on dinner duty because he was off today. And, now we are again....my reading snuggle buddies and this book, which I have been dying to get back to today. Hamilton won the contest for who got closest to Mama, again. ❤️☺️🥰📚#dogsoflitsy

I‘m only at 3hrs and 11mins for the #fabulousfebruary Readathon. My goal is 15hrs for the entire event, so I have some time to make up. @Andrew65

This book grabbed me right away! I don‘t want to put it down, plus, look at these reading snuggle buddies (who always clamor to be the closest one, he won this time). Alas, I must make my way to my home office desk and begin my work day. 😢❤️📚 #dogsoflitsy #thriller #goodbook

Mitch That looks super snuggly ♥️ 4y
Elizabeth2 @Mitch so snuggly! They are keeping me warm, too. ❤️ 4y
BookDragonNotWorm Is that a fox terrier? 😍 4y
Elizabeth2 @BookDragonNotWorm they are both mini poodles. The one on my lap is 5 year old Hamilton, who is the normal size for a mini poodle at 17lbs. The one at my hip is 3 year old rescue Hazel, who is petite at only 9lbs (she was a puppy mill Mama who wasn‘t a good enough breeder - probably because of her size). She‘s puppy sized. ❤️ 4y

I loved this book! It was twisty and creepy without being over the top. And I'm OBSESSED with Nina Guerrera. I am so glad this is going to be a series because I definitely want to read more about the tough latina FBI agent and her new team! I thought it was so lovely that she absolutely COULD take care of herself but saw the value and importance of her team. (Continued in comments)⬇️⬇️

maleahrae I saw that Jennifer Lopez was going to play her in the Netflix adaptation but in my head she looked more like Gina Rodriguez. Absolutely recommend!! 4y

I really liked this thriller/FBI procedural that I got as a Kindle First & I am happy it‘s going to be a series. FBI agent Nina Guerrera is attacked while running in a park & when she successfully overpowers the guy. She becomes a media sensation which puts her on the radar of the serial killer she escaped when she was 16. She is assigned to a BAU task force which gives off Criminal Mind vibes.💙Nina is a good strong female character to root for.

This is such a good book especially if you are into thrillers/suspense. Great characters, fast paced and intense storyline, I couldn‘t put it down. I can‘t wait until the next book in the series.

Kkecreads One of my best friends made me add this to my to be read list the other day! I‘m looking forward to it. 4y

Just a girl with her llama blanket and a suspense filled ebook. Today is not a great day but the llama blanket, book and coffee in my llama mug make it all good. Tomorrow, I‘ll be back to enjoying sun rays for sure. Seriously, this book is crazy good.
