Happy Pi Day! I baked two apple pies last night to celebrate today. I was being lazy with the tops feeling tired after my Covid-19 vaccine. And this book is so amazing!

How are you celebrating Pi Day?

BayouGirl85 I was gifted this pie cookbook as well. I can‘t decide which one to make. 3y
Nute I always miss the occasion of this day, but thanks to your post today I shall celebrate Pi Day with pie. I think that the only pie that I can make without having to go to the store to purchase ingredients is Sweet Potato Pie. It‘s a good day!😀 3y
Graciouswarriorprincess @BayouGirl85 They are all great recipes! Enjoy and happy pi day! @Nute That sounds good! I remember helping my grandmother make pies on her farm as a little girl but honestly haven‘t baked one except for today every year. This book is so amazing and I can see more pies in the future! 3y
Cathythoughts Oh yum 😋 3y
tracey38 They still look very yummy to me! 3y

I liked how this cookbook was broken up. Different types of dough and then many fillings and what matches best.

rachelm Love that concept 3y

Holiday baking complete! Tried a new one from The Pie Academy book with my own twist. I only had enough ingredients for one pumpkin pie but I already made the second pie shell, so looked through this book and found a Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookie Pie recipe. Instead of butterscotch chips, I used Heath Bar chips! Turned out delicious!

Another recipe from The Pie Academy cookbook! Turned out delicious for my sister's birthday. A little tart, so I think ill use a hint less key lime juice next time. But feeling impressed with myself, haha.

Librariana Fun to see the finished products! Looks like it was quite the yummy birthday treat 😊 3y
Kaylamburson Thanks! It's always fun to see how it comes out (especially when it's a success!). Definitely delicious. This is the first cookbook I've ever made more than one recipe from it. @Librariana 3y

I felt like a sweet treat tonight so I made Swiss Meringue from Pie Academy and put it on some berries instead of whipped cream! Yum!!

keys_on_fire I‘m not a meringue fan, but that looks delish! 3y
MaGoose Looks fantastic! 3y
Kaylamburson I love meringue! This one is cooked on the stove while making it so it's not crunchy like other meringues baked afterwards. Basically a thicker and more marshmallow-like whipped cream! @keys_on_fire 3y
Kaylamburson Thanks so much, @MaGoose 3y

I'm so proud of how this Caramel Apple Pie came out from this cookbook, Pie Academy (on sale Tues). First time I tried a butter crust (my mom had taught me with shortening), but everyone was a big fan! I also just got a ton of kitchen supplies for my birthday that will help make my pies even better. I'm so excited for pie season!!

Ruthiella Looks delicious 😋! 3y
Texreader It‘s gorgeous!! 🥧❤️ 3y
KathyWheeler I love making pies. I tried a butter crust for the first time this year. My mom taught me to make them using Crisco — it HAD to be Crisco, no other. 3y

Kaylamburson @KathyWheeler how did your butter crust come out? Would you do it again or you'll stick with Crisco? I'm so used to Crisco that I find it easier, but I borrowed my sister's food processor and the butter one was done so quickly that way! 3y
KathyWheeler @Kaylamburson I can do the Crisco one practically in my sleep but the butter one was so good that I‘d do it again. 3y
Kaylamburson Definitely a bit richer with butter, but not sure it was different enough to convince me to switch! @KathyWheeler 3y
KathyWheeler @Kaylamburson The one I made was Ina Garten‘s and it had sugar in it as well. I will probably always use my Crisco recipe for most pies but, for a change of pace, make the butter one. Alton Brown posted a pumpkin pie recipe that didn‘t look that great but I might try the crust — it‘s a cookie crust made with ginger snaps. 3y
Kaylamburson Oh interesting! Ina always seems to have great recipes. Pumpkin pie with a ginger snap crust sounds amazing. If you do it, you'll have to let me know how it turns out! @KathyWheeler 3y
