Hoping #MarvellousMay #Readathon will get me out of my April-to-May reading slump that seems to happen every year. I‘m setting my goal at 40 hours and attempting to get through The Power of the Dog, Bewilderment, The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot, and make a dent in The Quiet Game. 🤞📚❤️🤓

Andrew65 Good luck, and thanks for playing along 😊 Hope it helps with the reading slump. 1w

I almost forgot about #AwesomeApril… what was I thinking?!? I‘m setting my goal light - I‘ve returned to work after six weeks off for medical reasons and am not getting as much reading done as I‘d like as I transition to my new normal. I think I can get three books finished, so I‘ll go with that.

Andrew65 Hope the return to work goes well, take care. 😍 1mo

My March reads. It was an interesting month - three non-fiction reads exceeds the total NF I would read in a whole year. Nala‘s World was my fave of the three because… well, a cat! 🐱

A successful #MarvellousMarch Readathon! I started and finished five books (2 non-fiction and 3 fiction) and made good progress on Wintering and Salt to the Sea. I didn‘t quite meet my 40 hour goal and I probably could get in the remaining 2+ hours I‘m short, but bed is calling so I‘m shutting off the lights. Thanks for hosting @Andrew65

Joining in for #MarvellousMarch #Readathon starting tomorrow. My goal is to finish the four non-fiction books I have in progress… I‘m not sure how that happened because I typically only have one non-fiction in progress at a time. I‘ll set my time goal at 40 hours.

Andrew65 Good luck 😊👍 Great to have you with us. 2mo

Several short stories and a novella about race in today‘s America. The stories were beautifully written but painful stories. My favorites in the book were Richard of York Gave Battle in Vain, Alcatraz (which includes the quoted text), and the title - The Office of Historical Corrections.

Happy that I was finally able to concentrate enough to read without audio on this blustery cold day. Missy Jo wasn‘t ready to open her eyes this morning.

YAY - my state!!! 🌻🌻🌻 #RoadTripUSA2022

1. While obvious books are The Wizard of Oz and Little House series, the tagged book is one of my favorite cookbooks.

2. There are so many places to visit in my home state but the one I return to time and time again is the Flint Hills. Visit the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve just north of Strong City to step back in time.

@megnews

Christyco125 My home state as well. My recommendations are the largest ball of twine in Cawker City and the center of the US in Lebanon, but my most favorite is the Cosmosphere in Hutch. Astronaut ice cream! 3mo
KellyK @Christyco125 YES - the ball of twine…. I mean who would of thought twine would turn into a tourist attraction?!? 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3mo
megnews The Little House books really made my love for reading. I saw pics of the Discovery Center in Flint Hills. Looked so cool. Hope to visit someday. Not sure about the ball of twine but the center of the US and astronaut ice cream sound great @Christyco125 3mo
Christyco125 @megnews We used to go to the reservoir near there in the summer, otherwise I would have missed it myself. I always get a kick out of the quick mention when I watch National Lampoon‘s Vacation. They pass it on their way to cousin Eddie‘s. 3mo

#FabulousFebruary wasn‘t a total loss but well below my initial goal. I finished the middle 3 in the Amos Decker series (thanks audiobooks) and am halfway through The Office of Historical Corrections for total pages of 1,645. No idea how much time I spent reading because I kept forgetting to stop and start my stopwatch (thanks pain meds). The best part was spending lots of time with Missy Jo and in The Fallen there is a gray cat named Missy! 🤓

Andrew65 Sounds brilliant to me 👏👏👏🙌🥳🍾🥂😍 Thanks for playing along. I love the Amos Decker series. 3mo

1. I love Mr. Bridge and the companion Mrs. Bridge - maybe because we lived in Kansas City and I always enjoy books with familiar places in them.

2. If in KC, I‘d suggest a trip to The City Market and a stop at Planters, the best garden store, and also the rose garden at Loose Park. If in St. Louis, spend time on The Hill - especially if you love Italian food.

#FabulousFebruary #Readathon is off to a slow start. 😪 I set my goal high because of lots of downtime after knee replacement surgery but wasn‘t counting on scrambled brain from my meds. 😵‍💫 I‘ve been able to read about ten pages of Olympus, Texas, and listen to a couple of hours of The Last Mile while getting in my “exercise”. My first ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 of 2022! The first two-thirds of this sweet novel of loss and grief had me LOL with all the antics GUP tried to get his niece and nephew to open up about the loss of their mom… the last third had me 😢😢 as GUP dealt with his own grief. I finished this yesterday in the early afternoon and tried to start my next read in the evening… it was too soon as I kept thinking about Patrick and his family.

Second Hand Heart is about two people coming together in order for both to move on with their lives in separate directions. Vida has needed a new heart for all of her life and receives a donor heart from Richard‘s wife who was killed in a car accident. Vida and Richard‘s journey to move forward with their lives is the premise of the book. This is not my favorite CRH book but it was an enjoyable and quick read.

Great book about family, relationships, love, and loss. The Owens siblings are each unique yet very similar as they maneuver through life after the untimely death of their parents and Jet‘s beloved Levi. One of the most touching moments in this book for me was Jet‘s eventual truce and friendship with Levi‘s father. I can‘t wait to dig into Practical Magic to discover more of the lives of Franny and Jet and Vincent‘s granddaughters. ❤️
