Another #StarWarsBuddyRead book finished. I‘m doing my best to get caught up.

Another MG novel in the High Republic Era. I liked this one as well. I wish there was more Vernestra in it, but I liked Lula, Ram and Zeen. The Bonbraks were hilarious in their upgrades of V18. Looking forward to the next book.

This was a fun Middle Grade book set during the Republic Fair. Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaran is tasked with trying to warn everyone about the Nihil and restore communications to the Tower. Also there is an entertaining chat with the Drengir 🍃

Really great book for readers young and old. The action was fast paced with good character moments. I loved it! I hope there are more with these characters

I also appreciate that the teenage padawans acted like teenagers and had the character growth felt organic

While I struggle with the “grown up“ books about the High Republic, I absolutely love the YA ones. It was the same with one. It was over way to fast. The characters were great, the humour was, the action was. The whole thing just fit. Older is a great author anyway and here he just shows it once again. This is how books for young readers should be. And for me. Can't wait for the next one!

MG story set adjacent to the action at the Galactic Fair on Vallo (The Rising Storm). Exciting for young readers who enjoy speeder-fights and flying with little to no truly scary moments to cause alarm. The padawans experience some fright, trepidation, elation, and ultimately success. There is growth in one of the kids and it demonstrates loyalty, friendship, and ingenuity in the face of danger. #starwarsbuddyread

Something I appreciate with the juvenile tie-ins is that they have a line or two of dialogue directly from the main books to mark their place in the larger story. They are not essential reads, but they do a good job of filling out the events of the other books. The children's picture books are fluff, but it's nice sometimes to have a visual of certain character, species, or events.

5/10:
Despite introducing me to the new characters of Ram, Lula, and Zeen as well as building upon Vernestra and Ty through an exciting story, this didn‘t add a lot for me. I have a feeling this has heavy ties to The High Republic Adventures comic series (also from author Daniel José Older), so hopefully I notice that when I finally read those. A very middle ground young reader novel for me though.

I know we don't NEED any more star wars books, but that doesn't keep me from wanting them. This book is from the same author that gave us YA ShadowShaper, the MG Dactyl Hill books, and another SW book Long shot which I believe was an argument for Han Shot first. (don't quote me on that.)
