A Murder Yule Regret
A Murder Yule Regret | Winnie Archer
5 posts | 4 read | 2 to read
Freelance photographer and Yeast of Eden bakery assistant Ivy Culpepper has just scored the job of a lifetime shooting the Dickensian dress-up X-mas party thrown by It Girl film actress Eliza Fox...until an unwanted guest appears. A holiday costume party in the sleepy coastal town of Santa Sofia could be just the boost Ivy needs for her fledgling photography business. At the party, Ivy enters a Victorian fantasy come to life, all courtesy of the fabulous Ms. Fox. Ivy gets to play shutterbug while hanging with Scrooge, Marley, the Cratchits, and more classic Dickens characters. But what begins as the best of times turns out to be the very worst for one of the party guests--a tabloid journalist with more enemies than Ebenezer himself. When the man's body is found sprawled across the jagged rocks below the house, the fingers begin pointing at Eliza. Meanwhile, Ivy gets roped into helping prove the starlet's innocence. Her festive photos are now official evidence--and the Ghosts of Christmas Present could mean the party for Eliza is over, once and for all.

Finished one of our team's books. This was a cute, cozy mystery set in California. Even though this is book 7 in the series, I really liked that we are able to jump into this world without reading the previous books. There were many suspects and clues, but it wasn't until towards the end that the real culprit made sense. Also, I really loved Agatha the dog.

Thanks to a lot of travel, I‘ve finished 10 books already, including the tagged #teamevergreen buddy read, for the #wintergames mid-month check in - so, despite rather dismal participation, I feel pretty good about my points! I‘m hoping to read the other team read, but the library hold is sooo loong…

Starting off the #WinterGames with one of our team buddy reads. I‘m a half hour in, and so far so good! #TeamEvergreen 🎄

TEArificbooks I am reading our other team book for my first book for the games 13mo
Clwojick @TEArificbooks I finished it while at work! It was good for a cozy mystery. Nothing super suspenseful, but better than many I‘ve read. I might be slightly impartial since I loved all the little Pug bits in there. 😊 13mo

This was the first book for me in this series, but I really enjoyed it. Very well written, with good clues and a few red herrings thrown in. There was some speculating and guessing involved, but in the end she did solve it instead of just bumbling into the murderer. The characters were well written and enough background info was given on everything that I could easily follow along without having read anything in the series before.
