Of the High Republic novels I've read, this one was the least sad. It was nice to read about Reath and Stellan again and I liked Vernestra. This was my #bookspin for the month and it was a good adventure.

Bookish Song Nr 44: City of Dreams

Well yes, it's another Star Wars song. But what else could I've been thinking of when something like City Of Dreams pops up on Deezer? I saw Starlight Beacon, the big hopes it symbolises. And all the lifes that were lost there. The people that fought for it and died saving others.

A true City of Dreams.

BookwormAHN Good connection, I just Googled the song 💙 1y

Another great read with the #starwarsbuddyread

Justina Ireland and Star Wars - what could go wrong? Exactly! Nothing!

Ireland does what she does best. Writing great plots and great characters. I couldn't get enough of this book. Just like it was with her other books. Sadly, it was over way too fast. Once again.

@BookwormAHN

TracyReadsBooks Ireland really does write good Star Wars. I‘ve also really been enjoyed the High Republic books generally—MG, YA, and adult. I‘m more than a little excited to see this era come to tv as well. 1y
Jari-chan @TracyReadsBooks I hope they're doing such a good job with the tv shows as well! 1y
BookwormAHN I also agree Ireland's books are fantastic and this one was too short 😺 1y
Jari-chan @BookwormAHN I really hope there are going to be more Star Wars books by her! 1y

Repost for @BookwormAHN

How did everyone like October's book Midnight Horizon? I enjoyed it. I loved Ram & the bonbraks.
November's book is Mission to Disaster the next MG book in the High Republic series.
As always if anyone would like to be added or removed just let me know. And May the Force Be With You ✨️

Once again the Nihil are causing trouble and this time they have help from one of the most powerful families. Loved Vernestra, she's definitely one of my favorite Jedis 💚

Justina Ireland and Star Wars - is there a better combination? Maybe Peanut Butter and Jelly, but I guess that's it. What a great and enjoyable read. Great characters, a good plot, developments and everything Star Wars. What else do I need? A PBJ Sandwich maybe, to make things perfect.

BookwormAHN Great to hear. My copy just came in from the library so I'll be a little late starting it 2y
Jari-chan @BookwormAHN I hope you'll like the book as well 😊 2y

While the character introductions and development were good, this felt like a set up for the next book more than a satisfying stand-alone. It also took me a while to realize the young, dark skinned female pilot of a guild ship with parental issues in this book was different from the young, dark skinned female copilot of a guild ship with parental issues from Into The Dark 🤷

Sorry about the late post. Here is our #StarWarsBuddyRead for July, Out of The Shadows by Justina Ireland this is the 2nd YA novel in the High Republic series.
Last month was a fun middle grade romp with Race To Crashpoint Tower. I throughly enjoyed it.
As always if anyone would like to be added or removed just let me know. And as always May The Force Be With You 🚀
On a last note the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is fantastic!

PageShifter I am intrigued but I have to confess I am a bit confused how I should read this series. It seems to be some series that has a little bit this and that. Can you read it however you like, no need to be familiar with other works? 2y
BookwormAHN @PageShifter The High Republic series is a separate series from the rest of the Star Wars books since it takes place way before the others. The only common character is Yoda. This series should be read in its order though. Hope that helps. 2y

PageShifter It does, thank you! 2y
PuddleJumper I'll sit this month out, the library didn't have it. Looking forward to people's thoughts as I've not read a YA in this series yet 2y
BookwormAHN @PuddleJumper That stinks, but no worries and honestly the ya books have been the weaker books in the series so far. 2y

8/10:
Again, Justina Ireland knocks it out of the park with this incredible Star Wars story! Not only do we see the return of Vern, Imri, and Avon, we get to see so many complicated emotions and events throughout the galaxy. Yes, this story is aimed at younger readers than myself, but that doesn‘t take away from the emotional impacts this had on me. Brilliant!

10/10:
Genuinely one of the strongest entries of the High Republic era so far; one that was extremely hard to put down. We were introduced to some new characters, but we also got a lot of growth from previously established ones (specifically Vernestra Rwoh). I absolutely cannot wait to start my next jump into this era and see these characters in the future!

“Vernestra might be just okay at flying, but she was excellent at crashing.” (page 384)
