This one is a pretty risqué YA! It‘s good, kept my attention but I definitely liked Sadie better. #Pop23 ~a book with “girl” in the title

I loved Sadie, but this feel a bit flat for me. Very disturbing, definitely not YA! Triggers abound. There were no true consequences here, the ending was so vague and unresolved. I know things don‘t always wrap up in a nice little bow, but I needed a bit more from this. A bit disappointing 🙁

A bleak novel about power and abuse. Georgia Avis, 16, is beautiful and all she's ever wanted is to be an Aspera girl. Aspera is a private club where the rich and famous go to party. She soon learns that what she wants is dangerous. This is a YA book for mature teens. Summers is one of my favourite YA writers and this book is not an easy read.

CBee I really liked Sadie and should read some of her other books! Stacked 😊 2y
TheLudicReader @CBee I have read everything she‘s written and Sadie is my favourite. Cracked Up to Be is also excellent and I loved This Is Not a Test. I have enjoyed everything she‘s written, really. 2y

I liked the mystery within the novel, but there are some topics that could be triggers for some. To me it felt as though the novel functions as a commentary on society and the way life is for those who have versus those who do not, as well as what benefits come with fame or power. It is an intense novel with some intense characters. At times I was annoyed by the characters and the positions that they put themselves in.

This is not Sadie.

But it is "She Said" (Jodi Kantor), "Nine Perfect Strangers" (Liane Moriarty), & "The Last Mrs. Parrish" (Liv Constantine) x YA "Honey Girl" (Morgan Rogers).

It is determination and drive to break from generational poverty and failure to thrive in a small town where only the elite and guests can hide away in a resort like space down a road that leads to only that destination. The same road where a teenage body...

MaggieCarr ... is found and this story spirals from there. Building and building until you aren't surprised anymore that nobody can be trusted and there are too many secrets held by those in power. 2y

I‘ve really loved Summers‘ previous YA novels, so I was thrilled to dive into her latest! Unfortunately it left me with mixed feelings… the immediacy of the writing sometimes makes it harder to connect with the characters. Georgia Avis, the narrator, pieces together what happened to the younger sister of a classmate she‘s always admired while uncovering the truth behind her own dreams of working at the ritzy private club on the outskirts of town.

This is a great thriller. But it's probably not for everyone. Think Jeffrey Epstein style situation with a murder. I enjoyed it a lot. The teen protagonist is very realistic. I found her frustrating at times. Very well written.

I just finished the book and my heart is pounding. I always prepare to be destroyed by Courtney Summers, but I‘m somehow always surprised at how completely she does it. This was amazing and captivating and so hard to read at times because Georgia is right, this kind of world is everywhere. Thanks, Courtney, for another broken heart, and thanks, Edelweiss, for the advanced copy.

We‘re in the middle of a winter storm with crazy winds, an inch of snow an hour, and it‘s cold AF, but I don‘t even care because COURTNEY SUMMERS! 🙌😍

Thank you, Edelweiss!
