“A knight is brave, a night is bold, but most of all a knight is kind,”
I think that this book would be a great use in this classroom and it could be a good lesson about chasing your dreams and being kind as well as being brave..

I think this is a great book to use in the classroom. It is able to inspire children to embrace their dreams and to be brave when they are faced with challenges. It teaches a great lesson of self-confidence and is able to inspire children that anyone can be a hero.
this story shares about the knight owl and his preparations for his knightly duties. It shares about the importance of believing in yourself regardless of others perceptions and your size
I enjoyed this book. The illustrations were amazing and I love the color scheme though out the book. I really enjoyed the story and how it blended animals and knights into a cute fantasy story.

This book is great to show kids that no matter how small or different they are they can always reach for the stars and accomplish their dreams!
Knight Owl by Christopher Denise Caldecott Honor
This book was so fun with they play on an Owl working a knights night watch! I loved the play on word! The imagery in this book gave a very warm since and a similar vibe to back in the medieval times!
“It was very dark and very, very quiet. But owl didn‘t mind, because he was brave, he was clever…”
I thought this was a great book to show my students. I would choose this as I feel many of my students could relate. The owl uses his strengths to get his job done. He uses his cleverness. It gives the message that you can do anything you set your mind to and I love that.
I would use this book to have a conversation about what they want to be when they grow up
I enjoyed the aspect of word play in the story. The owl wanting to become a knight in reference to a night owl an expression for someone who stays up late.
This story involves an owl who is training to become a knight. By the end the owl makes friends with a dragon unexpectedly. I like this book for its silly light hearted nature. I think this book would be best for young children because of its simplicity.
The illustrations were dark, but they brought the story to light. Also, the theme of making friends with your enemies is a good message to give to children.
My favorite quote is, “And he had many friends.“
It brings the story and the theme together to kill people with kindness while also teaching the term “night owl.“

This is an adorable story about an owl who wishes to be a knight. They get their chance when knights start disappearing, and everyone is surprised when owl is chosen. But it turns out owl is perfect for the job. This book is very adorable, and kids are going to love it. As an adult I am fascinated by the illustrations and would want any of them as artwork for my walls.
This story has a cute pun to it. Being a “night owl“ the owl becomes a “knight“. I think this story can be super sweet to read to students and learn more about them, whether they are night owls or not. While the students get to learn about each other.
Knight Owl, 2022. A Caldecott Honor Book. This is a story about an who owl always wanted to become a knight. He was hard-working, brave, and clever. He was put on knight night watch. When a dragon came to eat the owl for a midnight snack. The owl was brave and offered him a pizza instead. Soon he became friends with the dragon.
“They talked about how each of them had hatched from eggs, how much they liked the night, and how flying was hard to explain to someone who had never done it before“.
I enjoyed reading this book, this would be a fun read in a classroom. Although the story may seem simple, you could go in depth on each page and explore other meanings.

Caldecott Honors:
Knight Owl is the story of Owl living out his dream: becoming a Knight. Although Owl is not as big or strong as the other knights, he proves that if you set your mind to something, and are clever and kind, you can do anything.
This book is a great tool for letting students know that anyone can be anything they set their mind to.
“It was very dark and very, very quiet. But Owl didn‘t mind, because he was brave, he was clever.”
This delightful picture book tells the tale of a medieval-era owlet who dreams of becoming a knight. He is accepted into knight school, is an outstanding student (of course), and begins to serve in the Knight Night Watch. But one night the biggest test in the little owl's life arrives. Can this adorable lil guy prevail with ingenuity and an instinctive sense of fellowship? Oh god, this was so cute. Sweet, heartwarming, and beautifully illustrated.
In this children‘s historical fantasy picture book, a small but plucky owl realizes his dream and becomes a knight. There‘s plenty of foreshadowing—dragon imagery is on almost every page—until Owl comes face to face with a massive dragon. Funny, sweet and inspiring. A Caldecott Honor recognizes the charming art, which rewards careful examination to find jokes and surprises. #kidlit
Knight School was hard, but Owl worked and worked. He graduated with honor, as all knights do.
Can you see what mom is making for dinner? The dead mice on the trencher make up for the gender stereotypes in this illustration. I loved the book, don't get me wrong. Owl is clever and adorable.
5⭐ I mean, look at that brave little owl! Can it get any cuter? I really loved this little book about bravery, finding common ground, and following your dreams. The illustrations are unbelievably cute and luscious, and the story is quite fun. And, as a player of D&D that is currently playing a small-size, cleric owlin, I just had to get it.
Fantastic and sooo cute! One of my new favorite kid books. Explores themes of perseverance, bravery, and friendship. Recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
