I finished my first #auldlangspine recommendation from @MeganAnn ! This was a captivating memoir of the author's experience as a TWA flight attendant in the late 70s and early 80s. This was buried deep in my TBR, so thanks to @MeganAnn for bringing it to the forefront! Also thanks to @monalyisha !

MeganAnn I‘m so happy you enjoyed it! This was a surprise favorite for me that I just happened across at the library. 😍 11mo
Karisimo @meganAnn I made Linguini Carbonara for dinner tonight because she mentioned eating it in Italy during her travels and it's been on my mind ever since! 10mo
MeganAnn @Karisimo yum! Sounds delicious! Wait until you get to the tagged book. I was craving Italian food the entire time I was reading it! 10mo

Made myself a little inflight snack and drink situation to go with this book, which I'm loving.

Managed to get a little break from work today, so went to The National Air and Space Museum in Washington. After fangirling over the Apollo 11 lunar module (which was so cool) of course I left the gift shop with a book.

Megabooks That‘s a really fun museum! 2y

Picked this up on an audible sale and so glad I did. I love to fly so it was great learning more about the history of flight attendants too.

What a wonderful, nostalgic look at the airline industry from the perspective of the stewardess (flight attendant). What a glorious job to hold! Every girl wanted to be her and few were. This is a peak behind the curtain and so enlightening.

I liked this well enough, but all the aviation memoirs and stories I‘ve been reading have started to blur together, so I might not have found this as fresh as I would have liked. Maybe read this and then read Come Fly the World, rather than the other way around.

A soft pick. This is a memoir by Ann Hood about her 8 years as a flight attendant after college, and how the experience changed her. It‘s just about the right length —any longer and I may have lost interest. But still a nostalgic look back at the airline industry before deregulation and the ghosts of now-defunct airlines such as TWA and Pan Am.

I punched my boarding pass for another flight attendant memoir! Before Hood was an author, she was a TWA flight attendant for eight years, a job she wanted since childhood. She dreamt of exotic locales and dates in every city. And while she shared fun memories of that happening, she also survived deregulation and relocation at an airline that was constantly under threat of bankruptcy. Still, she evokes a more glamorous time for travel.

Megabooks @Chelsea.Poole you may want to check this out! 3y
rabbitprincess My library ordered this, so I‘ve placed a hold! Glad you liked it. 3y

Author Ann Hood pens a memoir of her days as a flight attendant in the 70's. Though she includes some interesting tidbits of the behind the scenes of being stewardess, it's not enough to keep readers engaged.

KristiAhlers That‘s too bad. Because as a flight attendant I had a blast. All the people I met and the places we went. Some flights went really smooth others were nightmares. Takes skill to take something like that and make it boring. Sorry it wasn‘t a good read. 3y
GerardtheBookworm You might enjoy it. I didn't. I found it rather dull. I did love Julia Cooke's Come Fly the World about Pan Am. Again, everyone should read what interests them. 3y

This was fascinating! Hood's love of flying was palpable and contagious, and I loved all her anecdotes from back in the day. I wish I could have been on a proper Jet Age flight. #nonfiction #memoir
