I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it.

Bentley Little is one of the few authors that can make me uncomfortable while reading. He may not be as graphic as some authors, but he can definitely create an image that makes me squirm. I thought this book was great. One of my favorites by Little along with The Resort. I liked that it explored the evils of retail and giant corporations. I did wish we had learned more about the Night Watchmen and Newman King. They were fascinating characters.
“When I was young, we were all Americans. Back then, we did what we had to, or what we could, to make a better nation…Now all anyone cares about is how much it costs.”
My book haul. I got a Barnes and Noble gift card for my birthday and this is what I bought.
Gotta say, I was hoping for a more supernatural Shopping But Evil, but this book is mostly Corporations But More with a supernatural gloss. Libing here in 2019 I'm already acquainted with the evils of capitalism (which are super evil, to be fair). Thr ending seems naive 20+ years on and the main character isn't really forced to reckon with the absolute worst thing he did. It was a fast read, though.
This book is extremely terrifying and unsettling. It‘s the first time I have ever read a horror novel and wanted to highlight multiple quotes because they were so profound. The book was published in 1998 and the symbolism for “Corporate America” and the rise of “super stores” is strong. It scares the crap out of you but it also makes you sad for all of the small businesses and small towns that have been destroyed by corporations. 4/5 Stars
Still working on this lay out but have a few people with some great genres to trade if you‘re interested 🤗. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HysORJesFNT8xSHeQs4-4kQFXA6RM1XqdOtv1Thy0os/...
I found the most amazing little store today. Each section had a different city/country theme. I especially loved the Italy and Paris sections, but look at this adorable and awesome book section they had!!!
It had so many interesting and neat things 😊
