I finished this last night and I loved it. Wonderful spooky vibes, great storytelling, and an ending you don't see coming. Chef's kiss of a book in my opinion.This author has now become an autobuy for me.

After striking out several times with audiobooks, I‘m so glad this one was able to hook me! This gothic tale features a “con-artist” spiritualist who ends up forced to help the people of a rich estate figure out the mystery behind the death of the future Lady of the house. The author did a fantastic job of placing suspicion on almost everyone, and several characters had me going back and forth with blaming them. It was a rollercoaster… ⬇️

1. Very much so. I‘m big on journaling, and I have one I call my “everything journal.” I do my monthly and weekly planning in it. And I tend to write lists there as well as in my phone.

2. It seems as though nothing ever goes as planned for the protagonist in this gothic mystery that I‘ve been listening to.

I actually loved this book. It hooked me quickly , connected me to the characters, had a twist I didn't see coming and fit perfectly into spooky season. Definitely recommend

This book reminded me of a mix between Disney's A Haunted Mansion and The Haunting of Hill House. The main character Genevieve Timmons was such a logical and independent character, and the writing was so descriptive and eerie. The setting and scenes were spooky and the mystery was do unpredictable and twisty. I loved the small romance between Miss Timmons and Gareth Pemberton, it was sweet, minimal yet perfect! I loved how the ending wrapped up!

Hard to resist a haunted Victorian English manor house, a spiritualist MC and murder mystery… so this one has a lot going for it from the start, BUT there were so many plot holes and it felt a little pieced together. I wanted it to be as good as Jess Kidd‘s “Things in Jars” and unfortunately, it didn‘t come close. But it was entertaining and fun and a good easy vacation read!
