A follow up to yesterday‘s post... this is the book I chose from my library‘s #blinddatewithabook display. I think I chose pretty wisely (this book has been on my radar for a while) 😍

We had a lovely dinner tonight with my uncle and his partner. She lent me this book of short stories by a #localyyc author. I‘m really excited to read it! #canadianauthor #yyc #shortstory
Me.🙋🏻♀️🇨🇦
Started this a long while back and am finally returning to it. Reread the opening story and loved it as much as the first time. So much danger and love and reality in the simplicity of young adolescent childhood portrayed. 🐎
Disappointing. It's not a bad book by any means, but I think that the title being "The Dark and Other Love Stories" makes you think that you're getting, well, dark love stories. And I wouldn't classify these stories as dark so much as sad/depressing. I will say that I really loved the story "Girlfriend on Mars," which for me was by far the strongest story of the bunch.
Day 6 of #riotgrams is short stories. I'm a big fan of short story collections and this is the one I'm im the middle of right now. So far, my favorite story from this collection is "Girlfriend on Mars," which is about a drug dealer dealing with being relegated to the sidelines when his girlfriend enters a reality TV competition to be one of the first humans to live on Mars.
#boutofbooks TBR! Bout of Books is a low-pressure, week-long readathon that starts tomorrow. I'm hoping to get to some of these books as well as Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire, which should hopefully arrive sometime this week since I pre-ordered it 📖 Are any of you guys participating?
Short stories and coffee on my day off ?☕️
I picked this one up on a whim at BookCon last year since it was a short story collection with the word "dark" in the title ? Good so far!
This punchy little collection of off-beat stories provided an enjoyable escape. It's always fun to read collection set in places I recognize, in this case, the Lower Mainland (Vancouver BC and the surrounding region).
Today I finished one, so I get to start two #Litsymath
I have a working phone again 🎉🎉 I didn't like my involuntary hiatus from Litsy.
Enjoying a book and coconut iced espresso outside in the gorgeous weather today! Highly recommend this collection of short stories so far. They're really well written and paced. Great characters, lots of depth, beautiful writing. So glad I picked this up on a whim. #booksnbucks
Holy shit this book! My god, I was already so emotional the past hour and then I get to a certain story in this collection and honestly I am a hot mess right now. All the feels! 😭😭😭
I've been procrastinating big time on all my galleys due to my trip, but after The Passage was getting way too dark for a setting so fun (I'd rather not be thinking about the apocalypse and everyone dying and being stranded while I'm actually in Italy, thank you very much), so this is the perfect read for me right now. I'm savoring these stories so far. A must read!
Today's reading. #canlit #shortstories #canadiancontent
