I'm sort of in love with this book. @coffeehousepress

Finally got to reading this, and it is indeed as good as advertised. Impermanence and change, and our desire to be anywhere but here, all wrapped in the memoir of loss and restlessness.
'American essays' is indeed how I would describe this collection. McPherson writes about Americana: from finding things in his old house in Gettysburg to oil boom in North Dakota to Trinity test in 1945. Not entirely uplifting but smart and personal. #essays #history #americana #travel #memoir #environment #cities #usa @coffeehousepress

Such a tender, beautiful, loving book. Told in stories and journal entries, it chronicles Hayes's move to NYC at 48 and his life with Oliver Sacks and Sacks's last days. This book radiates love and life.
Communism for breakfast. #history #nonfiction #russia #1917 #revolution
What a devastating book. So many triggers, so many thoughts. I'm not a true crime reader, but this book is so much more: a memoir, a deliberation on the role and rule of law, mental health, family, and compassion.
Today is long and cold and wet, but I have this 🌳🐝🐌🦋🐛👽🐢🥚 @HarperPerennial
Let's start this morning with coffee and Croatian literature. #croatia #internationallit #translation #newdirections
Oh, you've read every biography of Leonardo out there? Read this. #art #renaissance #biography #leonardo #narrativenonfiction @Melvillehouse
Far from being a simple mystery novel, this is an exploration of identity, of keeping secrets, of who we are and how we change as we go through life. I've never read Boylan's fiction, but I'm glad I picked this one up. Of course, y'all should go read her memoir She's Not There. #trans #lgbtq
Apropos the recent Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie comments. I love her dearly, but if she is going to speak on feminism, she should both brush up on theory and make friends with some trans women. #trans #feminism #intersectionality
I've heard both 'couldn't put it down' and 'couldn't get through it' opinions on this one, so let's see how it goes.
These are fantastic, beautiful, perfect stories.
Here's #mylocallibrary for #riotgrams: Tenley branch of #DCPL @bookriot They are great and they got me a copy of Pachinko on the day of release. Yes, I work at a bookstore, but I still use libraries!
Today's reading. #canlit #shortstories #canadiancontent
#whereiread #riotgrams @bookriot Fabulous chair, blanket, Burr pillow, too many books, art supplies, laptop, coffee.
This book is breaking everything inside of me.
This is wigging me out.
You asked whether people's happiness or aspirations could depend on the decisions of politicians who happen to be in power. Allow me to give you what you may think a predictable answer -- yes, they can, it one does not own a thousand hectares of land.
This book is on drugs, I'm just not sure which ones. I mean it in a good way
My first book of the year is already one of my favorites of 2017. Much like her poetry, Lockwood's memoir is pure word witchcraft. It's irreverent, dark, funny, smart, and raw. Start with her poems and then read this. Out in May.
Happy holidays, Littens! I celebrated the end of retail season with exhaustion, organ recital, beer cocktail, and this book

I have wine and also this. Have about a week of bookselling stamina left. #bookselling
This is out today and everyone should get it.
Solid #smallbusinesssaturday haul. As a bonus, Tobias Carroll was bookselling @WORDBookstores and signed my copy of REEL! #indie
Beautiful tiny snippets about love and lust and relationships. To be read all at once or in bite-sized pieces, vivid and passionate.
A lot of it is a bit too soon, but the storytelling is so good.
This book got me out of post-election reading slump. Noah's story of his South African childhood grabs, captivates, educated, and makes you think.
This is not the uplifting, no-bad-things-happen read you're looking for
While everyone is setting their clocks back one hour, I'm going to set mine back about 5000 years

Surrealist fiction, it's what's for dinner

The stack for #24hourreadathon. @DeweysReadathon
A thoughtful look at what ghost stories mean to us and what they can tell us about our collective and national psyche. It's a spooky and often uneasy travelogue slash history, perfect for your #AllHallowsRead #GiveaScaryBook
