In the 70‘s The Paranormal Research Foundation experimented on subjects driving them mad. Everyone disappeared never to be seen again.

The house is abandoned today when a group of paranormal investigators shows up to find the truth.

If you love ghosts, haunted houses, found footage, you‘ll love this story. Characters are relatable & the ending was great. Love the writing! The audiobook is quick & fun!

'Enjoyed' never feels like the right word when talking about reading (psychological?) horror genre, but I was fully consumed in the story. Thanks to formatting: transcript, journal entries, texts, emails, it's 450ish pages that go by fast. As much sci-fi and supernatural mystery as A+ chills. More emotional connection with the characters and their interrelationships than I can usually expect from horror. Got answers and one of my fave tropes. 😉

Highly recommend the audiobook because it has a whole cast of characters and audio effects that enhanced the creepiness and overall feel of the book. I loved the found footage meets House of Leaves storyline. It didn‘t scare me like promised but I have yet to find a book that actually does. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Meh.

This started off with such promise, but was let down by the formatting. It tried to be clever and creepy by building a story using journal entries and scripts of “raw video footage”. Instead, it‘s a jumbled, disconnected mess of a narrative that was never scary. There was little real tension and by the end, I just wanted everyone to hurry up and die. The very end is just eye-roll inducing.

Was hard to put this one down. I was invested almost from the start. A mind bending, supernatural thriller for sure.

Next row of my #readinglogsnake is Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie. My wheelhouse surrounds mysteries involving the disappearance of a group of people. You add a paranormal element to it and I'm sold! The story was told through mixed media (found footage, dairy entries), I had a hard time putting it down. It also brought the right amount of creepiness. 5/5 ⭐️ #ARRCReads #BooksAndCrafts

The audiobook was good. Yet to me(!) the content was as interesting as any other reality TV show.

Points for the narration and audio production, but the story was meh. To me!

I am a huge fan of found footage and ghost hunting shows (the cringier the better) so this was a hit for me. I listened to the audiobook and read the book . The audio was really well done.
This was a great read for me. I couldn‘t put it down. I actually am going to buy a physical copy instead of having just the audiobook and ebook.

A little late posting my stack but I guess better late than never? My goal for the #MarvellousMarch readathon is to get through as many of these as I can. Some of these are library books, some are for #TBRTarot, some for #Bookspin but I‘ve started all and gotten into them at varying degrees. Life has been rough and my ability to focus even more so. So here‘s hoping that I can focus well enough to get through at least a couple of these @Andrew65

I‘ve been on the hunt for a good ghost story, so I decided to give Episode Thirteen a try after seeing it all over Bookstagram. I ended up having mixed feelings about it though. The paranormal aspect was awesome! It was totally creepy. There just wasn‘t much of it. Most of the book was about drama between the characters. And I didn‘t like any of the characters, so I could care less.

I LOVE found footage style movies and this story is basically a novel version. Told through journal entries, texts, emails, descriptions of video footage, and more, the author does a great job of enveloping the reader in the story and making them feel like a witness to something both fascinating and terrifying. I especially enjoyed the “raw video footage” sections as this was where we got a glimpse of the hauntings that the paranormal ⬇️

Entertaining, intriguing, & perfectly spooky. Told via a multimedia, the tale follows the crew of a reality ghosthunter show. I did not want to put this down. The plot moved rather quickly & included a couple of good jump scares & some fantastic atmosphere. The ending had some fantastic qualities & I absolutely enjoyed where the plot headed, but did feel it ended too suddenly. HIGHLY recommend the audio for full atmospheric effect.

Paranormal TV show investigates a mysterious location. It was a fun, and surprisingly deep book. It's told through journal entries, interviews, text, and found footage. Each character has their own entries, so you learn about them as the book goes on. The book also provides a different theory of what ghosts might be.

🌟🌟if I didn‘t listen to this on audio, I would have given it less stars. Audio was entertaining but the story didn‘t work for me.

What a wild, spooky read! A group of paranormal investigators, with hopes of making it big in the reality TV scene, uncover something truly sinister at The Foundation House. The story unfolds in personal diary entries and transcripts of the filming, which lets the reader see everything from various POV's, some true believers of the phenomena and others skeptics.

Great ghost/haunted house story. 👻
