I do enjoy Thorogood‘s cosy mysteries, and amateur sleuth Judith Potts is a great character.

This is the second instalment of the Marlow murder club. The group gets together to solve another crime. It was a good read. #crime

I usually try not to start a series with a book later than the first, but this second adventure of these older women amateur (but quite capable) detectives pulled me right in. A great locked-room cozy with witty writing and fun characters. I will certainly seek out the rest.

Sir Peter Bailey's crushed body is found under a fallen heavy display cabinet inside his locked study on the eve of his wedding. Sir Peter had hinted that he felt his life was in danger. So, was he murdered, by whom, and above all, how?

Another good, twisty story. I found it funnier than the first one, and the characters are starting to grow on me, though I still think they are there to serve the plot rather than interesting in their own right.

Book 2 in The Marlow Murder Club series. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first. It‘s been a year since the ladies solved their first murder and life has been kind of quiet. Judith, Suzie and Becks are at a garden engagement party when there is a horrible crash from the house. The partygoers find the groom crushed by a bookcase inside a locked room. Police say it‘s an accident, but Judith, Suzie and Becks disagree. #SeriesLove2023

Book 2 in the series — It's been a murder-free time for The Marlow Murder Club since the events of last year. The most exciting thing on the horizon is the upcoming wedding of Marlow grandee, Sir Peter Bailey. Sir Peter is having a party at his grand mansion on the day before the wedding, But during the soiree, the trio hear crash from inside Sir Peter's house. When they rush to investigate and find the groom-to-be crushed to death in his study!

I quite enjoyed this second book in the series- our three amateur detectives are investigating a locked room mystery in the English town of Marlow. I figured out the mystery pretty early on but still wanted to read on. This was a 7 day fast read so I had to really focus on it. I would say this is between a pick and a so-so 💚🐉

This is the second in the ‘Marlow Murder Club‘ series and it was FANTASTIC! I didn‘t see the ending coming and I was hooked from page 1, which makes it a “Pick” for me 👍 I read the first book (“The Marlow Murder Club”) last year and didn‘t read it again before reading this one, I wasn‘t confused or felt behind the eight ball on any references so I think you could jump right into the series with this one.

What a delightful little cozy mystery. I‘m still not a fan of Suzie but I‘m loving all the other characters and REALLY loving how Thorogood constructed the mystery. I hope there‘s more!!

This was without a doubt one of my favorite books this month. I mean how can you go wrong when the beginning of the book starts off with a skinny dipping 78 year old and a dead duck. You can't! When the reveal came, although it wasn't a surprise I had fun on the journey. I'll definitely pick up the first book and read it. Plenty of funny moments this is the kinda cozy mystery I can get behind.

This book was fun, but by the time we got to the reveal I was expecting it. I‘ll definitely read another in this series. I‘ve been watching Keep Sweet Pray and Obey, about Warren Jeffs and the FLDS, so my daughter recommended The Witness Wore Red, about Rebecca Musser, Rulon Jeffs‘ 19th wife, who testified against her husband‘s son in court. It‘s my new walking book. #audiowalk

I‘m not sure who the murderer is yet. There‘s so many people who could‘ve done it and have motive, so even though we‘ve got a locked door mystery, the main problem isn‘t how it was done; it‘s how to narrow the suspect pool. This isn‘t helped by a chief inspector who doesn‘t believe the victim was murdered, although his lack of belief does give Judith & Co freer rein. #audiowalk

It‘s nice to be back in Judith Pott‘s world again. This time she and her friends are involved in the investigation surround the death of a local baron. #audiowalk

Good follow up to book 1! I enjoyed the antics of our trio and it‘ll be interesting to see how things play out with the police return. As always, Suzie annoyed me a tad, but I like that the Reverend is always so supportive even if he has no clue.

Finished this one yesterday, really enjoyed it. Lots of humour in it, and amateur sleuth Judith is a great character; I do like the way Judith uses her tin of travel sweets as subtle tool of manipulation 🤣

And it‘s no. 2 in a series so another to tick off for #SeriesLove2023!

#BookReport and #WeeklyForecast
This week I finished:

- All That Remains
- The Aeroplane - Technical

For some reason, I decided to tackle three challenging chunksters over the course of the year, so I‘m reading a few pages each day of:

- Clarissa
- Mason & Dixon
- Ulysses/Easy Ulysses

I‘m also reading a section each day of Not A Diet Book

Current main read is Death Comes to Marlow

Next up: The Old Woman With The Knife

Cinfhen That‘s a good way to tackle a chunkster …small bits over time 🙌🏻 1y

New Robert Thorogood book dropping on Thursday! I‘ve been waiting a long time for this.

The Marlow Murder club, written by the creator of Death in Paradise, got rather overshadowed by TV personality Richard Osman‘s series, released at around the same time.

rockpools I‘m quite excited for this one too! I went in very sceptical, but really enjoyed the first one. And there‘s definitely more room in the market for funny, kick-ass older sleuths! 1y
