A married couple move into a lone house in a new neighborhood and things start going wrong immediately. The twist ending really makes the book 🐈‍⬛

One of my favorite authors, I was very excited to get a copy of this book. It starts like a basic haunted house story, but we find that it is not ghosts at play but demons. I paid close attention as I was reading. Towards the end, the husband and wife dynamics change, and I didn't really care for the revelation. Other than that, this would have been 5 stars for me. But I still enjoyed this very much and recommend it to horror fans. 4.5 stars

TheLudicReader I also really like Nick Cutter/Craig Davidson. I found this book weird. 6mo

Bailedbailed

I bailed about a third of the way in. Should have quit when I read “… that malignant turd in the lunch bowl socked between his ears” on page three. Mean spirited, nasty and just plain dull. Can‘t remember who recommended it, but they did me no favor.

This was better than I was actually expecting. It went down a rabbit hole that I never could have guessed at and the audiobook was truly creepy at times. Just a wild ride all around! #scarathlon #skeletoncrew #bookspinbingo #31by31 #spookoween #pumpkinspicereadathon I‘ll do the bingo boards separately

I really liked the horror/comedy/satire of this novel. It walked the line well. I was less satisfied with some of the arcs - the relationship between Trent and his wife didn‘t start in a way that made me root for either of them or their marriage. I found their son hard to read - sometimes he seemed very young (kindergarten?) and others kind of indeterminate kid age. Excellent concept, lukewarm take on the haunted house trope b/c underdeveloped MCs

This is a trippy, wacky, fever-dream of a book about a family (Rita, Trent and their young son, Milo) who move into a fancy house in an estate where all the other houses have yet to be built. The house is clearly not right…or maybe it‘s Trent, who becomes obsessed with fixing things. This is a soft pick because it was a little too “WTF?” for me. Lots of ick, too.

Book 170📚 3.8⭐️

Ok. I will admit it was no Troop.

But I still liked it! I had some good laughs about the people you meet in Home Depot😂

It was squishy and gorey, just like you expect from Cutter. But almost felt a tad forced?

Hank.. oh Hank. This fucking guy😂

This was one of my most anticipated new title releases for spooky season as I have loved Nick Cutters previous horror themed novels. I found myself disappointed to have a story unfold that was all too similar to the synopsis of The Shining and Amityville Horror. A misogynist husband and his family move into a haunted house, and his actions get increasingly more volatile. As a positive point, the gore scenes delivered some perfectly awful imagery

Not usually a fan of horror but I loved The Troop so knew I wanted this one! Trent, Rita, and young son Milo buy a new house and are excited as it borders a forest. But as strange, unexpected, and unexplainable things begin happening, we realize there is a sinister force at work here…and it‘s really creepy!😱
