Good third installment in this trilogy. The narration is very well done. I have enjoyed this series immensely.

Everything I want in final girl horror and more. I love how Jones ended this trilogy knowing he had to keep upping the stakes, twisting the mystery, and kept pulling it off. I love how much the idea of a final girl, of inhabiting a slasher film type scenario was interrogated, how you see characters, Jade in particular, acknowledge the costs. 1/2

A singular reading pleasure, discovering writing from another time that speaks so clearly to you now, without feeling antiquated.

I've enjoyed several of Stephen Graham Jones's novels, including the first in this trilogy, but the last few books of his that I've read have been kind of one-note and very drawn out. It feels like Jones has something he's working through, like these are successive drafts of the same story that could be incredible if edited together to demonstrate a clear character arc, but they're all published before they have a chance to reach completion.

This is my view of my too-hot tea and overly ambitious (and dangerous in an earthquake) book stack as I quarantine myself from the rest of my household with my very first bout of COVID. While so far it's not as bad as when I've had the flu, it's not fun and it's definitely good that I've avoided it for the past 4+ years. I'm achy and energy-less so I'm listening to the tagged on audio while pitifully scrolling on my phone.

I have been anticipating this book since I read the first in the trilogy. Jones does not disappoint. The beauty of his writing is, you never quite know who the bad guy is and whether the monster is real or supernatural. The Indian Lake trilogy is a true love letter to old school horror, final girls, & complicated people. This was a fitting end to the story of Jade Daniels.

I was so excited about the release of this book. Unfortunately, it let me down. The narration rambled on at times, it felt like a chore to read it and the ending was anti-climactic. I‘m just glad that this trilogy is done. I won‘t be reading anything written by this author again. #StephenGrahamJones #TheAngelOfIndianLake.

This book is absolute chaos and I was totally lost at times. At some point I want to reread the whole series and I think I will follow this better. It is still an entertaining book and a fit end to Jade‘s story. I won‘t say much more as it would all be spoilers. If you are a horror movie fan, I highly recommend this series. 4⭐️

2) It‘s a toss up between The Demon of Unrest by Eric Larson or The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.

I have loved this series, though this final installment is the weakest of the three books for me. It could have used editing and there‘s a section this goes past horror/gore into straight silliness (and I don‘t think he intended that). Also, the audio isn‘t helped by the author reading the last chapter in a combo of monotone and upspeak that was hard to pay attention to. But it was fun to spend a little more time with Jade.

My initial reaction to the release of Angel was indifferent; I knew I would read it but wasn‘t sure if I wanted to just yet. Still, despite my disappointment with Reaper, I love Jade and Jones.

And SGJ really delivers! It moves with such speed that it‘s halfway over before you realize you‘re in the thick of it. It‘s an insane, often infuriating but ultimately satisfying conclusion to a story I believe will go down as one of the GOAT in horror.

Hmm. I won‘t pan it - though I‘m tempted. Maybe with time, I‘ll change my mind (like I did with Book 2) but this as an ending to an epic world building that started with Chainsaw (the absolute best horror book I‘ve read in a long while), the homage to slasher films turned too navel-gazey and ultimately got far too convoluted and confusing. I‘m sad about it to be honest. But Jade will always be a final girl to me.

Wow. This book. What. A. Ride. I don‘t read a lot of horror, but this book/trilogy pulled me in from page one. This is book 3 of The Indian Lake trilogy. These aren‘t stand alone books.
Jade has returns to her hometown of Proofrock, Idaho after her release from prison. When the horrors of the lake arise once more, Jade must find it within herself, again, to fight for the hometown that has betrayed her over & over. #horror #IndianLake

As a horror movie & book nerd, Jade Daniels has become one of my fave heroines to root for. It‘s for that reason that I had to postpone all my holds to read the ending to her trilogy as soon as I humanly could. 😭

I‘m a third in and not a lot has happened yet, which feels slow for this author, but I trust him to not let me down.

Yay for book mail! Also-book whiplash. Amanda Flower‘s book is a historical/cozy mystery mashup and SGJ‘s book is a horror novel.

I know you all are pumped that there's a third book in this series coming your way. 😂 I love these. No idea why. This author is just different.
