The easy way to brush up on your English skills Is it good or well? There, their, or they're? Some people don't have to think twice about using proper English, but for the rest of us it can get tricky and confusing. Whether you're writing or speaking, it's all too easy to fall prey to simple mistakes that will represent you in a less-than-desirable light--which can potentially cost you a job or put you in an embarrassing social situation. Avoiding complicated grammar rules, Basic English For Dummies sticks to the basics and makes it easy to get up and running on what you need to know to partake in successful everyday communication, no matter your audience or medium. Inside, you'll find plenty of examples and exercises, guidance on how to structure sentences to make yourself easily understood, and so much more. In no time, you'll leave the 'me or I?' debate at the door and speak and write confidently and correctly. Plus, you'll expand your vocabulary, find the right tone and style you want to convey in your communication, and avoid common English language pitfalls. Includes quizzes and self-tests Provides guidance on composing letters, emails, texts, and phone calls Explains in plain English how to improve your English skills Gives you instruction and exercises on putting your skills to practice right away If English is your first language, but you missed or have forgotten the nuances that were taught in school, Basic English For Dummies is your go-to guide. It is also ideal for those learning English as a second language.

Oh, well then, I guess it comes down to the left one or the right one. This will require some serious thinking, as this could be a purchase with long-term consequences. Which one do you think I should choose? 🤔 #LitsyHumor

TheBookAddict 🤣🤣🤣👏🏽 8y
drokka 🤣 Do you get 70% off if you buy a pair? 8y
Hooked_on_books Isn't the purchase of a shoe technically 50% off? 😉 8y

Sydsavvy Definitely the shoe for the right foot. 8y
Sarahr875 I thought of you the other day at a local restaurant. They had a sign showing the hours that they're open. The word hours was in quotation marks. I almost took a photo for you, because it goes well with all these signs you post. 8y

[DELETED] 3558467437 Love it! Hubby wants one. 😂 8y
Zelma That is great. My biggest pet peeve is using an apostrophe when a word is plural. I get irrationally angry about egregious apostrophes! 😡 8y

Zelma @The_Literary_Jedi your students might actually remember the rules if you had this mug. They sure would've stuck in my teenage mind if my teacher had it! 8y

I need this mug. Now.

katedensen I need this as some sort of printable to give to my students!! 😂😂 8y
Alisnazzy @katedfisher every speaker of the English language needs this. If I see one more could/would/should/must "of" I swear I'm going to become violent. And as I'm a staunch pacifist, that's saying something. ? 8y
katedensen @Ambrosnazzy Agreed. Also: Geraldine Brooks was an English teacher at my high school. She and another teacher compiled a 500-page grammar packet we used in ninth and tenth grade. I totally credit her for 85% of my grammatical prowess. The other 15% is from 8+ years of being an SAT tutor. 😁 8y
