Big thumbs up from the 9 year old as we finished up The One & Only series. She loved the continuation of Ivan‘s story as he became a dad. I read her the author‘s note after we finished & it mentioned about book bans. My daughter asked what book bans were. I realized how lucky she has been to live in cities & states that don‘t enact book bans. How she‘s always been in libraries that have lots of books for her to choose freely from. After I

ncsufoxes explained to her what they were she was like that‘s stupid & then she said that was sad. She started telling me about all the different books that her current school library has. She was telling me how they have a whole selection of books about Pride. It was a bittersweet moment but also a moment of happiness to know my sweet child realized that books should be for everyone. 3d

5✨ What a great way to end a series! I‘d highly recommend reading these in the order they were written. This one will have spoilers from the previous 3 books. Ivan is expanding his troop and becoming the leader he always dreamed of being. While this is based on a real life gorilla, there is a Harambe reference. 😬 There are also references to the struggles of animals doing normal life tasks when in captivity. #SeriesLove

Read4life @crazeedi Have you read Ivan, Bob & Ruby‘s stories? In this one, they‘re together in a zoo with other gorilla‘s, elephants &, for Bob, a family with other dogs. Ivan and his mate find out they‘re going to be parents & this prompts the zoo to get a film crew to document the pregnancy and birth. Ivan has been in the wild and has to come to terms with his difficult past & accept that his family will never experience “freedom” & its pros/cons. 11mo

So clever, great characters! As a continuation of the other books (Ivan, Ruby, and Bob), this is in Ivan‘s POV. He and his mate Kinyane have just had twins. They (along with Ruby and Bob) now live in a wildlife sanctuary. Listen to the audio if you can- the voices are well done.
