An interesting take on the PI genre. Instead of the drunken male PI, we have a just clean, former prostitute PI sent back into her former world to look for someone just like she used to be. The fun is due to this world, it is difficult to trust anyone as even the cops see her as a junkie. Lots of good turns too and a great ending.

Dark, ugly and tense - noir thriller about former addict and missing girl in the 50s New York. Perfect one sitting read, written in a very clear and crisp language, strong female character and with interesting twisty story.

50s noir, NYC, Hells Kitchen, mobsters, Bowery Street, dope fiends, junkies, Bryant Park, call girls and street walkers all wrapped up in this tight atmospheric novel. A true page turner. Made the first leg of my flight fly by.

I‘m only taking two physical books with me on my trip. I have a bunch waiting when I arrive plus my Kindle is pretty full. I‘m still not liking Fight Club but Dope is excellent so far❣️

writerlibrarian I've read dope a few years ago. 50s New York is amazing. It was a hit and miss for me. Parts I loved others I didn't. YMMV. 5y
