Endlich geschafft! 😆
Selten habe ich mich mit einem Irving so schwer getan..mehrere Versuche gab es, immer wieder mit monatelangen Pause dazwischen...und auch diesmal hätte ich fast aufgegeben...aber nachdem die ersten 200 Seiten geschafft waren, packte es mich!
Es brachte mich zum lachen, die Charaktere allen voran Dr. Daruwalla wuchsen mir ans Herz und ich habe es wirklich gerne gelesen!
Ein echter Irving:
Laut, bunt und schrill!

Ich liebe Irving und seine Werke, aber irgendwie bin ich bei diesem Buch nie wirklich reingekommen.
Jetzt wird es Zeit, es wieder von Stapel zu nehmen...
Vielleicht kann es mich ja diesmal überzeugen 😅

People have already posted my favourite Circus books, The Night Circus And Water for Elephants, so I thought I‘d post this one which has been on my Bookshelf unread for years! A Hindi film star, an American missionary, a dwarf chauffeur, twins separated at birth AND a serial killer! Sounds very intriguing!

Day 5. Sigh. What a day to pick a John Irving book. I usually love him!! A Prayer for Owen Meany? Cider House Rules? Yes, please. But I could NOT get into this one. I couldn't get the characters straight, and I could care less about the plot... In fact, it was sort of hard to discern one. I bailed on page 197.
