In 1965, 16-year-old Robin Lee Graham began a solo around-the-world voyage from San Pedro, California, in a 24-foot sloop. Five years and 33,000 miles later, he returned to home port with a wife and daughter and enough extraordinary experiences to fill this bestselling book, Dove.

I saved this praying mantis. It was in front of the door at work and if you open the door, it would've been obliterated. Did my good deed for the day.

Prompt: All Is Lost

I know I trot this book out every once in awhile. It is a great adventure story. Well worth the read.

Klou This sounds really good!!! 3y
TheSpineView @Klou It is. I just reread it yesterday. I got to thinking about the book after I posted this. I read parts only in a high school class and loved it but never finished it. It is a quick read. 3y
Klou @TheSpineView I'm glad you enjoyed it, and finally read it all! Definitely need to check this one out! 3y

This is a true story of a 16 year old boy who sails around the world alone. Fantastic story and the book was very well done. It was also a movie back in the day.

I read this book when it first came out in the 70s then it was made into a movie which I saw. It is the the true story of a boy only 16 who sailed around the world. A truly amazing adventure. I highly recommend!⛵

#12DaysofChristmas For "two turtle doves" I'm going with TWO characters--TURTLE ? the young Native American girl from Barabara Kingsolver's The Bean Trees & DOVE ?the sailboat ⛵️in the book of the same name in which the author began a sailing adventure at age 16. Can a boat be a character? In this case I think it counts since it was just Graham, Dove & the cats he kept on board. (BTW Max ?says I should reread this one with him-? & ??) ??

rachaich Loved The Bean Trees. And everything else Kingsolver has written! 7y
mrp27 Once again, 👏🏻👏🏻 Turtle is a great character. Loved this book and 7y
DebinHawaii @rachaich @mrp27 Me too! I was thinking of rereading both The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven one of these days--it's been ages. 📚💜 7y
