Parts were entertaining - in a Weekend at Bernie's style ridiculousness - but I didn‘t care much for the main character, and the plot felt weak. It is described as suspenseful and mysterious, but the mystery didn‘t exist. I think in one word, I would describe it as uneven.

Litsy what would you do if you were gay, hooked up with a guy on the apps, had sex with him, and then went out with him drinking and dancing until all hours of the night because you are a failed writer but then, the next morning you wake up and he doesn‘t? That‘s this book. This was gay Weekend at Bernies for a minute and I laughed a little but then we kept taking detours into the “why me?!!!!” And I could barely stand the self victimization. 👇🏼

What if you woke up to your last night's date dead, and a mistake you made might have killed them? This book dips in and out of being a thriller, also giving time to self-discovery/relationships. The genre mashup works for an entertaining and suspenseful read, poignant and full of insight. Incredibly funny, if you find bad gay sex and a 20s author and his 60s literary agent lugging around a dead body in NYC trying to get rid of it funny (I do).

An author in a writing/confidence/romance slump wakes up next to a dead body. Instead of calling the police, he calls his agent, and together they hatch a plan to move the body across NYC.

It is chaotic, thrilling, a little bit goofy, thoughtful, and ultimately just the right touch of sweet. A fun diversion that I very much needed!

It‘s rare that an author can pull off a funny thriller. Give me a Weekend At Bernie‘s element, and I‘m sold!

David goes on a wonderful date only to wake up next to a dead man. He enlists the help of his literary agent to deal with the body, but all she sees is good material for his next book. Once they find out more about his date, they realize they‘re in deep sh!t!!

Why is hauling-the-disguised-dead-body-all-around-town-trope so funny? I don‘t know, but sometimes dark humor is just the ticket for an entertaining read. Also, having a best friend old enough to be your mother adds to the charm. The hauling aspect lasted for half the book and the second half finagles a path through the aftermath. There were a few repetitive moments, but overall, it was a fun story.

Do you want suspense and fun and a flawed protagonist you can root for? Look no further! I didn‘t want to stop listening to this book. David is a great character; his journey grounded the darkly comedic elements with emotional depth. Stacey is (obviously) also a delight. 🎧

I loved this! A darkly humorous tale made up of bad decisions, snarky comments, and everything else I love in a book. This one got me out of my “rom com is the only thing that can hold my attention” phase, and that‘s saying a lot. It deserves all the hype!

What a fun dark comedy this was! Not only are you along for the ride with David and Stacey, but I loved how this crazy situation goes completely off the rails into the writing of his next big novel. Art for art's sake, am I right? Loved the twist in this book and I cannot tell you too much more without giving it away. Highly entertaining, introspective and a total roller coaster ride!

Soft pick. While for the most part the story was good, there were moments that were a little to keystone cops for me. It was just somewhat jarring in a book that seemed to be trying for depth.
