A young woman's radicalization sparks a widespread movement and media frenzy in this explosive novel of youthful passion, political awakening and first love, by an extraordinary new talent. "A lush, cinematic and propulsive novel filled with sex, violence, glamor and a true revolutionary spirit. It's a towering literary achievement."--Adam Johnson, Pulitzer Prize winner Corsica, 1993. As a sun-drenched Mediterranean summer heads into full swing, beautiful and brash seventeen-year-old Sverine Guimard is counting down the days until graduation, dreaming of stardom while smoking cigarettes, and seducing boys in her class to pass the time. The pampered French American daughter of a politician, Sverine knows she's destined for bigger things. That is, until one night, Sverine is snatched off her bike by a militant trio fighting for Corsican independence and held for a large ransom. When the men fumble negotiating her release, the four become unlikely housemates deep in the island's remote interior. Eager to gain the upper hand, Sverine sets out to charm her captors, and soon the handsome, intellectual leader, Bruno, the gentle university student, Tittu, and even the gruff, unflappable Petru grow to enjoy the company of their headstrong hostage. As Sverine is exposed to the group's politics, they ignite something unexpected within her, and their ideas begin to take root. With her flair for the spotlight and newfound beliefs, Sverine becomes the face of a radical movement for a global TV audience. What follows is a summer of passion and terror, careening toward an inevitable, explosive conclusion, as Sverine steps into the biggest role of her life. An electric novel by an extraordinary new talent, The Bombshell is filled with seduction and fervor, and explores the wonders and perils of youthful idealism, the combustibility of celebrity, and the sublime force of young love.

Happy #botm day! The irises are blooming, and it‘s finally sunny! The Bombshell is my #bookspin or #doublespin, so I‘m starting there.

And Kate from Kate & Frida (tagged below) is a big Colwin fan and just mentioned this book specifically!

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Enjoy!! Fingers crossed for sunshine tomorrow - we've gotten almost 6 inches of rain in the last five days! 2d

Aims42 My copy of “The Lincoln Highway” from them literally fell apart. I would turn a page and it would come out from the spine, just like a flower petal 😆 Their customer service is great, sent me out a brand new book and I could keep the damaged one (I taped it back up and gave it to my dad lol He appreciated the free book) 6d
bookish_wookish Oh wow! I‘ve never had a damaged book from them before. I may just try and flatten it out because i really wanted to start this one today. @Aims42 6d
bookish_wookish I‘m going to try and flatten the page out so i can start reading it this weekend! @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 6d

Love the colors in my May #BOTM box!

I already read “The Love Haters”, but I gave my giveaway away and want a copy for my shelf 😊

Hooked_on_books I‘m curious about Aftertaste. It sounds interesting but I‘m not completely sure about it. I look forward to seeing what you think! 1w

Okay, so I couldn‘t choose just four, so I threw in an extra. When I was researching options, I wasn‘t blown away, so I‘m really surprised at all the books everyone else is posting that I hadn‘t already seen. Looking forward to another great summer camp! #CampLitsy25
