Written by a mother and son writing team, this book is actually the prequel story of Inspector Ian Rutledge despite being #17 in the series. Rutledge is a detective at Scotland Yard who proposes to his fiancée on the eve of WW1.He has several murders to solve, trying to figure out the connection between the deaths before he makes the difficult decision to enlist. The writing isn‘t the best, but I find this time in history fascinating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75/5
And it's my Litversary‼
5 years ago today - my 1st Post was pic I snapped on vacation on South Padre Island. 😎
It's my #Litsyversary! My first post was 4 years ago. A picture I snapped while on vacation at South Padre Island. Oh the good old days when you could set in a bar with a margarita and a book. Litsy friends keep me sane these days. Love y'all!

@HappyLitsyversary tells me today is my actual 3 Year Litsyversary. My first post was pic I had snapped few days before. Vacationing on South Padre Island hanging out at patio bar at Palms Resort.🍹
Fun Fact: Room we stayed in years ago for our Honeymoon is now where the bar is. They also added on a patio. But the bar is right were the bed used to be. 😉

❤ will do!! Happy Labor Day !!
This was a decent mystery, considering that I'm not a fan of mysteries. I thought Ian Rutledge was an interesting character and liked him enough. I just wanted the crime solving to just get on with it! I think I'll stick to watching my mysteries rather than read them.....for now at least.

Just a few days ago and I'm addicted!
Normally wouldn't start w/ #17 of a series but since this was a prequel I made an exception. Interesting juxtaposition between the assassination of Archduke and normal doings of everyday people. Ian is a character you care about. Already starting Book 1.
