Sir Percy Leads The Band | Baroness Orczy

Pickpick

Well October went a bit off the rails (as it does every year lol). I actually did read 24 books, but reviews were virtually nonexistent. So let's start fresh with November!!

First November read is a very fun Scarlet Pimpernel book. You should definitely read the first book in the series first, but after that they are often just collections of adventures. This one is a little strong on the love drama, but I still enjoyed it. ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Plus, it checked off 1936 for the #192025 challenge @Librarybelle !!

TheAromaofBooks @Clare-Dragonfly - Yes!! There are several, actually. Some of them are little short story collections, with each chapter its own rescue mission, while others, like this one, are a “regular“ novel. If you enjoyed the original, you'll probably like the rest - I haven't read all of them (currently goal) but they tend to be similar in style and content 😂 2y
Librarybelle Wow! I also did not know about other Scarlet Pimpernel books! 2y
KathyWheeler I read the first book and I just love the movies, but I had no idea there were more books! 2y

Reading this in accurate environment on our island. Though in Finland. But Sweden's only a short swim away.

Laughing at Wollstonecraft being appalled by the Swedish drinking culture and use of strong spices.

Ooh, just realised that during Wollstonecraft's trip Finland was still part of Sweden... or under Swedish rule. 🤔

My favourite bit of bookswag - book bag from Stockholm bookshop. Such a stylish picture on the bag, and I love the colour. #24in48

The Kitchen House: A Novel | Kathleen Grissom

This is such an amazing book, but so hard to read at times because of the tough subject matter. The audiobook is fantastic.

Mariposa_Bookworm I just bought a copy at the used bookstore in town because I saw such high praise on Litsy. #blameitonlitsy 8y

Lmstraubie Loved this book! Definitely intense at times, but so worth the read. 8y
ApoptyGina69 Just today I picked it up, but then set it back down. Bad call! I will get it on the next bookstore trip. 8y
GypsyKat It was so well done! 8y
annahenke @Mariposa_Bookworm @ApoptyGina69 you definitely won't regret picking it up! The beginning was very top heavy with hardship but there a lot of simply touching moments as well! Complex narrative, for sure. 8y
