Harper has moved to FL and needs to audition at a new dance studio. This means new dancers too. Will she make it? If she does, will she fit in? 👯

ABC was one of the first #comics I used in my classroom, and it was one of the first time I remember thinking this comics in the classroom thing could be a big deal. Paneling with Gene Yang was full circle for me and the work we did at #ALAAC17 for Pop Culture Classroom, French Comics, and the Children's Book Council was SO rewarding and reaffirming. #Comicsarerealbooks y'all
pickI was so happy to get an ARC of this from #alaac17! Lint Boy doesn‘t disappoint as a graphic novel. The illustrations are more picture book than comic and they fit the flow of the story perfectly! Leijten brings to life the story of a doll formed from lint and the mean little girl/old lady who hates dolls. I do wonder if young readers will fully get the humor but as an adult, I laughed my way through the entire book, lost socks and all!

pickI loved reading this #ARC #graphicnovel I picked up at #ALAAC17. In a family in which girls are witches and boys are shapeshifters, Aster finds himself drawn to witchcraft. He tries to hone his witchcraft skills, no matter how his parents try to convince him to conform or his cousins ridicule him. The allegory for the LGBTIQ experience is both unique and well-done. Though not fully colored, the art is lovely. #BestOfJune #JuneBookBugs

I finally arrived home at 1:30 after an 8 hour train ride and a 1.5 hour car ride home from #ALAAC17. Going into work at 8 this morning was a killer. Here are all the books I picked up while I was there. I got several #ARC titles and discounted books, with a few signed by their authors/illustrators. I'm hoping to make it to the midwinter conference this year. Not sure if I'll make it to next year's though. #LatestBookHaul #JuneBookBugs
I'm still recovering from 4 days of #ALAAC17. It was my first full conference and I loved all of it. I have a really hard time making conversation w/ strangers (so I always have a book on hand!) but being surrounded by librarians and books made it easier. Especially when you're standing in so many lines! And I came home with BAGS of books. I've been sneaking them in to the house and hiding them under the bed so my husband doesn't freak out. 😆
