#junetunz day 30 - #americankids

One I finish the Gombrowicz I'm halfway through, I'm gonna get back to reading this one.

Unrelated, the hammer was a gift from my Dad for when we get to work repairing the porch this summer.

Back in the olden days ya fiction was pretty limited but i loved Jupiter jones and his friends, they seemed like truly exotic American kids, i remember Jupiter used to read the dictionary. Anyway my copies have disappeared and ive not seen them in shops since.

Smangela I've never heard of these! Love the covers - seem very Nancy Drew/Hardy Boy- esqe? :) 2y

"I will not pee in the reservoir. I will not pee in the reservoir." Mostly funny, sometimes sad, always readable book in diary/letter form about a young boy growing up in the Bronx. Lots of baseball, and the occasional getting caught peeing in the reservoir. I think of baseball as men waving sticks while wearing long underwear, & I loved this book. All thumbs up. ? #junetunz #americankids @Cinfhen

Cinfhen Sounds like a great summer read 🤘🏼😎 2y
Tertubotn It is! That's how I read it the first time, schlepped it with me on vacation in the great state of Michigan. Easy to dip into, and most chapters pretty short. 🌞 2y

My book is not on Litsy. ?
This is an anthology of selections from The Brownies' Book. A 1920s monthly magazine created for "the Children of the Sun." Stories, poetry, biographies, artwork and photography featuring Black Americans by Black Americans and made especially for children.

#JuneTunz #AmericanKids Ramona and Beezus Quimby and Henry Huggins from Klickitat Street in Portland, OR were some of my favorite American kids when I was growing up. Even though I was the youngest in my family, I was more of a well-behaved Beezus-type--but I wanted to be more imaginative, adventurous and even a bit bratty like Ramona. 😆These are just some of the books in the series and some of my favorites.

All our famous Americans had to start out as kids at one time or another!

My youngest has been on a Scooby-Doo kick all summer. I had no idea there was a comic! Now I have to read it. The Scooby Gang is also my pick for #AmericanKids. #junetunz

The Losers Club from the upcoming It theatrical release. I will not be seeing it as I know it will be too violent for my eyes.

But I'm very much looking forward to reading the novel again when I get there in my chronological King read! It's been over twenty years!

Cinfhen Oh! That looks brilliant 🇺🇸😊 2y
TheLudicReader IT is my favourite King novel. I carried that book everywhere when it came out. I loved those kids. 2y
