My thrift store shopping was fruitful ~ paper, stamps, ink, and a book for my personal collection (I often refer to my work days as terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days!) When my son stopped at the hardware, I perused the postcard selection. #LitsyLove 💌

Mrs. Biddlebox | Linda Smith

Published: 2002
Mrs. Biddlebox wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and is having a very bad day. This story follows her as she goes through all the steps to baking a cake. By the end of the story she is in a much better mood. This is a story that focuses on being proactive when we feel gloomy and working to have a better day.

I do believe this is one of the best books ever written. Some days are just like that. And I did not wake up with gum in my hair- so that‘s a bonus.

KathyWheeler I read this book to my children repeatedly and never even got tired of it. 😊 2y

This sweet RF book will be sure to be a favorite for a long time. Follow Alexander as he has a far from ordinary day that helps us all relate to those horrible, no good days.

I would use this as a SR for my students. By reading this book we can discover and facilitate personal coping skills and strategies for our own bad days (9.2)UDL.
For My EL‘s I would do a before reading preview by asking guided questions and review questions for after our reading. A great resource for SR activities is

In this classic RF story, a young boy has a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. If it could go wrong, it did! He believes that the solution to all of his problems is to move to Australia. A great award-winning (ALA Notable Children's Book, Reading Rainbow Book, Georgia Children's Picture Storybook Award, Indie's Choice Book Award)book that children, as well as adults, can relate to.

TabathaA This would be best received using RA, using UDL principles 3.2 (highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships); as well as 2.5 (illustrate through multiple media). Use along with EL 11 (place language in meaningful context) and 15 (reinforce the key ideas you present again and again). 3y

Fun Fact: It is rumored that Alexander wants to go to Timbuktu in the Australian and New Zealand printings of this book. #UCFLAE3414SP21

Vanvlieta Wow! I love this. I think your UDL principals are perfectly inline with this book! Thanks for sharing(: 3y
Karissacurrier I enjoyed looking through the lesson plan you provided! I feel that the UDL principles you chose go along very well with the content of this book. The EL strategies you chose would be a great way to ensure your students are fully engaged with the text. 3y
MFlowers That truly is a fun fact! I think your EL 11 strategy was a great choice with the lesson plan you provided. What a great resource. Thank you! 3y

So, I‘ve had the most Alexander-y of Alexander days, BUT...then the mail came and it brought me a letter from my dearest friend and pen pal. I posted a letter to you earlier today, but I‘ll reply directly to this one, too. 😘

Mitch 😘I advise spending the hidden under duvets until it passes! Take care lovely. 3y

How I‘ve been feeling all day due to ALL my 2300+ podcast episodes being undownloaded from my iTunes on my laptop today. Short story I‘ve had to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to numerous shows and redownloaded probably at least 1000 podcast episodes, not all of which are done at the moment. And to boot a number of them still hv the effing files on my laptop.... 🤬🤯😡😤

melissajayne After dinner I‘m going to just download what I need for the week and download the rest them tomorrow 3y

BookmarkTavern Ugh! I sympathize completely! Good luck redownloading! 3y
