Your Steps on the Stairs: A Novel | Antonio Muoz Molina
post image
Mehso-so

After 9/11 the narrator of this book moves from NYC to Lisbon to wait for the end of the world. He‘s waiting for his partner Cecilia in his new apartment, that very much resembles the NY one.
Described as a psychological thriller the book is much more a stream of conscience novel and I have to say I got very confused at the end. Just like the narrator. Not sure what to think.

Hooked_on_books Lille looks so pretty! 🤩 1w
BarbaraBB @Hooked_on_books It‘s a cute and charming city. Much more Belgian than French in my opinion 1w
sarahbarnes Yeah, I got confused at the end as well. I think the marketing for this one was misleading. 1w

GatheringBooks Ooh, intriguing. Love the photo of your travel, too. Lisbon does not seem an ideal place to wait out the end of the world - too many stairs and steep hills (lols). 7d
BarbaraBB @sarahbarnes The blurb is really misleading! 6d

I enjoy the Lucy Stone mystery series. The books are well-written, and the characters feel realistic. This book is #31 in the series. Lucy‘s daughter is getting married, and I could so identify with the “wedding industrial complex” that suddenly takes over their lives! I also appreciated the thoughtful treatment of the history of the Native Americans in Maine. And it‘s a cozy, so of course there was a murder! It kept me guessing until the end.

julieclair This was my #ThematicCozies selection for June‘s prompt, #Celebration . 🥂 4mo
AnnCrystal Book 31! Epic 🆒📚💝. 4mo
julieclair @AnnCrystal I have only actually read 6 or 7 of the series, so I‘ve got lots of enjoyment ahead, lol. 4mo

AnnCrystal @julieclair that's grand 👏🏼☺️ you can enjoy knowing there is many more adventures to take with these characters! 😉📚💝.

I become way too attach to characters and dread reaching the last book in a series. I often, unrealistically, prolong finishing books due to this fact 🤔😂📚💝.

julieclair @AnnCrystal I‘d say that‘s the mark of a good series! 😉 4mo

📖Lightlark by Alex Aster
I don‘t remember when or why I bought this book, bu I really enjoyed it and will definitely pick up the next one in the series. I kept waiting for a major betrayal and was shocked when it happened. I‘m glad Isla found her purpose and what she was truly made of. Book #31 in 2025

An alternate universe “Frankenstein“ story. A dedicated scientist tries to bring her sister back to life but another spirit inhabits the body, desperately afraid of being driven out or further experimented on. A poignant story about identity and found family.
