The book I needed in the moment. A warm blanket of a novel if there ever was one. Found family, light adventuring, abundant kindness...this is a balm for the soul book for sure!

A retired detective and his daughter run a successful food recreation restaurant and the new customers bring forward stories of loss, love, misunderstandings and valuing the gifts you have along with painfully good descriptions of food.
5/5 stars, read for a collection of short stories that will remind you of the power of food to shape one‘s life. I also really enjoy the traditional food ware described, it‘s fun to look each piece up for images.
A sweet, huggable, cozy, found family fantasy. I liked the characters, and I liked their growth and their growing vulnerability and connection to each other. Overall, the book felt a bit light and forgettable—but there‘s nothing wrong with a light, enjoyable cozy fantasy. That cover, too! 😍
I've discovered these fun murder mystery jigsaw puzzles. You read a short story, similar to a cozy mystery then put puzzle together for clues to solve the murder. The puzzle is not what's on the box so you're putting it together blind. I've pixeled out the puzzle underneath so no hints lol
My return trip to Kyoto and the Kamogawa Diner was a delight! I‘m a vegetarian but all of the dishes are described so mouthwateringly. Cosy in all the right ways! I love how Nagare & Koishi work together as food detectives - they have a beautiful father-daughter dynamic.
Very early morning start- been home due to a bout of bronchitis. In between rest & sleep, I am reading, reading. What do others do when sick at home if not a reader? School is closed this coming Monday & Tuesday for Presidents‘ day, which is a healing bonus. Enjoying this non demanding cozy read. #readyourkindle
Cozied up & ready for bedtime stories 🐶
The world building is excellent and executed well. I really loved most of the story. There was a point where I was SO angry at Rivelin. A sort of YOU DON'T EVEN DESERVE HER kind of angry. But here is the bad for me. I hated the way the spice was written. And I'm trying to decide if it was just the verbiage or if it was a disconnect issue. Either way, I won't be reading any more by this author. (Better than "so-so" but also not a "pick".)

Read for #Roll100 as #57 Any #BOTM Cozy fantasy has become a favorite genre of mine & this was a sweet story with a found family, which I also love. Tao is a seer who masquerades as a teller of small fortunes to stay under the radar of the Guild. A loner except for her cart & donkey, she finds herself traveling with 3 strangers who become her friends/family on a quest to help one of them. Good balm for a dark January.
My current in progress reads. Though to be fair, some have been languishing longer than the others. I'm also listening to The Simarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien through libro, and the top one is my Kindle, where I'm reading Forged by Magic by Jenna Wolfheart. This is why it takes me so long to finish a book. I'm a bit erratic. Who else is a mood reader?
