This is one of those books that feels like it should be fiction—but it‘s not. It tells the shocking true story about Jean-Claude Romand, a man whose lies caught up with him, leading to the horrific murder of his family. Gripping and heartbreaking, it‘s a disturbing look at selfishness and deceit.

Today‘s Prompt: COVER WITH OBSCURED FACE
THRILLER - SUSPENSE
The title intrigued me from the start.
Does it mean not looking back?
Does it mean looking the other way?
Does it mean keeping your secrets and your past hidden?

Another buddy read with my kiddo. This one reminded me a lot of The Girl's I've Been (Tess Sharp) and Nowhere Girl: A Memoir Of A Fugitive Childhood (Cheryl Diamond).
Similar to her other books, Brown creates a world filled with suspense, conflict, tumultos situations and a little bit of lust. Bad boy Shaw kinnard is an undercover FBI agent who “kidnaps” Jordie Bennet in one of his cases. Jordie is connected to her brother who helped mobster Billy Panella embezzle millions from innocent people. Hickman and Wiley are local cops who are the backbone of the case and characters. Justice vs sibling relationship

Do you like to read a book before watching the movie adaptation? Are you a Benedict Cumberbatch fan?
If so, you'll want to read 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝗪𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 by 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫, based on a true story. My answer to both is “yes“ & thanks to @BlackstonePublishing & @Bibliolifestyle I am going to read the book before the upcoming film is released. Originally published in 1983, it was re-released on April 18, 2023.
I heard this referenced in a podcast I listen to and it proved to be very interesting. It took a look at small scale and individual deep fakes all the way to the ways different countries are engaging and tampering in different ways. It included a historic look at the development of deep fake technology and a little forecasting to where we might be heading. Interesting and important topic in the world we love in today.
