I loved this book! The growth of Chani & Gabe over the course of this book was lovely and heartwarming. The use of the dual timelines really added to overall progression of the story. #romantsy

Chani Horowitz is an up and coming writer who catches her big break when she is assigned to interview the newest James Bond star, Gabe Parker. The interview ends up taking place over a whirlwind weekend after which Gabe marries his Bond co-star. 10 years and 2 books (Chani), several movies, alcoholism, a fall from grace and 2 rehab stints (Gabe) later, the pair are asked to reunite for another interview. Perfect beach read. 4⭐️

Up & coming journalist Chani, scores the interview of a lifetime with handsome hearthrob, Gabe Parker. To her surprise, what starts out as a somewhat professional interview leads to a wild, drunken weekend with Hollywood‘s biggest star. This was recommended to me for my #12bookschallenge & I‘m so sorry it was just meh for me! I wanted more chemistry. I didn‘t get them! Chani was way too awkward for me, the secondhand embarrassment was too much!3/5

I loved this so much and it has given me a terrible book hangover. I‘ve read two books with similar tropes since I finished this earlier this week and neither of them have come remotely close to how much I enjoyed this. Yes the early part of their relationship has a lot of alcohol involved, also some unprofessional behaviour- but she knows she‘s doing it and there are Consequences. But the Now section balances it all out. So good. So so good.

This book was very well written. I love the story telling from Chani's perspective. I do think that there was a little too much alcohol abuse and 'then' didn't feel as genuine because Chani and Gabe were drunk during most of their interactions. But I do understand the message The author wanted to portray. Especially with Gabe's recovery. The ending was a whirlwind of excitement and overall, I enjoyed this read.

I‘d seen a lot of mixed reviews for this book, so I was bracing to not like it, but actually I thought it was well done and realistic (as much as a contemporary romance about a journalist and extremely famous movie star can be). The personal issues and misunderstandings that tend to be integral to a romance were actually well grounded and believable for the main characters based on their ages in the timeline of the narrative (26/30 to 36/40).

Kimberlone As an enjoyer of pop culture, I also felt like the fake movies described could have been totally real, and the way that interviews, articles, and gossip columns were incorporated into the narrative added another layer of reality to the book! 1y

Another fun, lighthearted read with a strong Jewish voice. Chani Horowitz an up & coming journalist is tasked with interviewing Gabe Parker, an up & coming actor who is unbelievably hot 🥵 The two quickly develop a flirty banter and their instant chemistry leads to a playful, amorous weekend. Now 10 years later, Chani is tasked to interview Gabe once again…will the sparks still fly? Will old feelings and wounds resurface??? More #JewishGritLit

This was pretty fun, about a writer doing a celebrity profile that turns into something more personal, and for ten years people ask her what really happened. It‘s based on a GQ profile of Chris Evans right before he became Captain America. (I‘d never heard of that story, but it‘s supposedly infamous). This was a fun enough romance but I do think it was a little long. I liked the articles, blogs, and reviews that are sprinkled throughout.

🧡 super cute! I really liked Gabe, Ollie, and Chani; their dynamic and the club scene were my favorite parts of this book! The sporadic articles in the middle of things was weird at first, but it helped give context. It was also never clarified whether Gabe was really similar or (creepily?) carving experiences to be what Chani had said she dreamed about. Like how the book shop was exactly her perfect day. Overall a fun, quick read 📚

Going in, I was somehow unaware that this is primarily a romance. And boy, is it! Recently, I‘ve read a bunch of romance where the actual sex scenes were pretty lackluster. Not true here! Anyway, I really enjoyed this. The characters were very flawed but ultimately, lovable, damaged, and TRYING. An ebullient cover blurb calls it an “intimate character study.” I don‘t know if I‘d go *that* far — but I‘d definitely recommend it to fans of the genre!

monalyisha This was a #BlameItOnLitsy read. I think, specifically, a blame it on @sprainedbrain read! Ironically, I think I thought it was going to be more “literary” than it was (which I feel kind of bad about, given Chani‘s specific hang-ups 🙈). I don‘t know where I got that impression! Not from the cover, and not from your rec, either, Jenni! 😅Fortunately, I‘m 100% down for thoughtful, steamy romances. 2y
sprainedbrain @monalyisha haha! I‘m glad you enjoyed it, even if it wasn‘t what you were expecting. 😂 2y

This was perfect for the hours I drove by myself - I loved this story about Romance gone awry and told in present as well as ten years ago. I enjoyed the main characters, and the way their story was told. So glad @sprainedbrain recommended it!

I absolutely loved this audiobook, start to finish.

The author has said the inspiration came from Edith Zimmerman‘s GQ interview with Chris Evans, and honestly if you‘re a romance reader who also has ever had any kind of movie star crush, how is that not prime fantasy material? 🤩😍

Happily, the execution was perfect for me: good writing, funny characters, actual feels… I didn‘t roll my eyes at all and actually wish for a sequel. 😯

Mehso-so

A journalist interviews her Hollywood crush and then after 10 years they are reunited for a second interview. Quick, fun, a little steamy, but mainly just some basic tropes. I enjoyed it, but thought it was a bit unbelievable and predictable at times. I think I could‘ve done with less of the main character‘s inner turmoil and more of Gabe and Ollie.

Her interview with the next hunky, Bond actor turned into a whirlwind weekend. Her article about that weekend launched her career as a celebrity reporter. But what really happened that weekend is a mystery to everyone but the two of them? 10 years later and she is assigned to interview him again, forcing them to look back to what happened that fateful weekend.

Journalist/Blogger interviews her longtime celebrity crush and her feelings are reciprocated. A memorable weekend is followed by 10 years of each of them marrying and divorcing others while each remaining in the spotlight and thoughts of their meeting. Each is keeping tabs on the other creating a second change romance storyline. Blog entries dot the then & now format making it a little confusing but almost necessary at the same time.
