Pickpick

Where is a heart eyes sticker when I need it? This is one of my fave Maiden Lane books (because who can resist a bad boy with a heart of gold?) and when it first came out that purple dress on the cover made me love it more. #DressOnTheCover

My current listen has a magnificent #dressonthecover. Which is funny, because the main character spends most of the book disguised as a boy. #JanuaryReads

Abby-J BTW. This series is kind of great. They're quick reads. It's YA historical mystery/espionage with badass lady characters and a POC main character. (edited) 8y
MarriedtoMrT I loved the first one. It was a favorite the year it came out. Somehow, I never made it further than that one. 8y

#dressonthecover #readjanuary

Spending Christmas gift cards at B&N on this rainy day with my niece. The Witches, one of her picks.

Suzze Boy, that almost makes me miss my years in the kids dept. 8y
mrp27 @Suzze Did you spend some time working in a bookstore? I did as well, several years. 8y
Suzze @mrp27 I worked at an indie in my early 20's, then was a stay-at-home mom until the boys went to college. Then I managed a mystery indie and worked part time at another bookstore? When I was getting a divorce I went to B&N as a manager to get benefits. I then moved to a store closer to my house in charge of the kids dept. Retired after 16 years there. Were you at an indie or a chain? 8y

mrp27 @Suzze I was manager at a chain for 10 years. I miss it sometimes too. Never had the pleasure of working indie. 8y
Suzze @mrp27 I loved being in kids. Meeting kids who were excited about reading, like I was as a kid, was amazing! 8y
mrp27 @Suzze I agree! I loved working in kids when I could. I taught pre school before selling books so I've always been able to share my passion with the littles. Now I have my niece and nephews to pass it along to. 8y

#ReadJanuary Day 5 - Dresses on the Cover

I would love to wear the frock that the girl on the cover is wearing. I'd also love to be at her picnic, but outdoor dining in today's 31F temperatures is probably not advised.

#DressOnTheCover #PersephoneBooks

CocoReads Then I really don't want to dine outside--I think it's like 11 here. I don't even want to leave to go to work. 8y
[DELETED] 3517561138 It's -37 (with wind chill that is, -17 base temp). Here's hoping my car starts. I forgot to plug it in last night!! Doh! 8y
quirkyreader That edition of a #persephonebooks classic is lovely. But I plan on sticking with the grey covers to keep everything uniform. Which version of the covers do you like? (edited) 8y

mom2bugnbee Feel your pain... I live in "The South" (TN) & I've got 28°F! Lovely cover! 8y
mom2bugnbee @Prairiehomelibrarian Where in the world are you? Yikes! 8y
RealLifeReading Lovely! 8y
BooksForYears @quirkyreader That's a really tough question. The dove grey covers are lovely in their uniformed simplicity. Yet I like the artwork on the covers of the Classics. Not sure I can choose! 🤔 8y
[DELETED] 3517561138 @mom2bugnbee I'm in the very, very northern central part of North Dakota. And it has been quite the winter so far. At some point here it will get even get down to 50 below zero. It's crazy cold! 8y
BooksForYears @Prairiehomelibrarian That's some serious cold! Here in the mid Atlantic, it rarely ever gets below -10F. Brrrrr 😬 8y
