Mdargusch The Irish culture just explained away anything that they didn‘t understand by saying that the fairies were responsible. @Reviewsbylola it‘s actually very fascinating and they refused to believe modern day science. It‘s an interesting historical true crime. (edited) 5y

I can't think of Genesis, Huey Lewis, or Whitney Houston without one fan coming to mind. In the film, Bateman shares his critical insights on these artists with his soon-to-be victims. But the novel has entire chapters of just his analysis, with no other context. The effect is very different: you get more insight into his psychology and how his 'deep thoughts' on art are entwined with commercial success.

Billypar @batsy Thankfully it's not every song. In the case of Huey Lewis, 'Power of Love' still belongs to Back to the Future, and several others to long car trips on family vacations growing up (my dad was a big fan 😁) 5y

~Mr Candy, the doctor who secretly administers laudanum to Franklin;
~Franklin, who stole the Moonstone diamond, unbeknownst to himself.

emilyhaldi I just finished reading this tagged book today and Patti Smith spends a chapter praising Murakami and specifically the book you tagged!!! I have never read any of his books but tbh Wind Up Bird sounds a little too magical for my taste 🤔✨

vivastory @emilyhaldi I've been meaning to read Smith's book forever, I'm even more intrigued knowing that she talks about Murakami. I loved Wind-up etc., but I think I might like Kafka on the Shore a bit more. They're both big time commitments, so I'd recommend sampling a few pieces from the following short story collection. They're a good representation of his novels
