pickOverall I liked this historical fiction from the point of view of a girl who stows away on the Titanic, but there were a few issues for me as a reader. Hazel sneaks onto the ship and then makes herself way too visible, including spending time in the first class areas. She asks specific questions that provide lots of clear information about the flaws/mistakes that led to the catastrophe, and of course it all works out well for her in the end.

pickThis book was crazy. I will say the unnamed Orisha - that story got me in a choke hold. I will be adding the next book in the series, because I need to know what will happen next. I hope they make a paper back of book 2, this hard back was heavy. Lol Now the foundation has been laid in book one, we can get to all the crazy in book 2

This book was a slow start. To build a strong foundation led to being slow in the beginning(my theory since there are 3 books so far).This West African inspired fantasy series allows for strong character building, world development, and even tone story pace.
